Chapter 3

  • “Foolish woman, look at how dirty she looks, I even started to wonder what Mr. Logan saw in her. You belong to the slums. Please make sure you don’t touch things here with your filthy hands who know what kind of contagious disease you are carrying.”
  • As soon as she heard the door close, she couldn’t help but remove her blouse to look at an itchy scratch on her upper shoulder. There were several bite marks on her shoulder and the moment she saw them, instantly reminded her of the horrible night. Everything was still fresh in her mind as if it just happened yesterday.
  • A single tear rolled down her cheeks and she wiped it by the back of her right hand. It was such a shame that she will never get to meet the man who took her virginity.
  • From the mirror’s reflection she saw the silhouette of the man standing right there on the door looking at her with the same cold look as before.
  • “You are such a little slut. Look at your body? Willy curved her mouth upwards as he stared directly at the marks. She was so ashamed of herself and continued to bow her head down in order to avoid his sharp gaze.
  • “Any way just hurry up and clean up, we need to be on our way to get our marriage certificate.”
  • She just kept quiet until the man turned to leave the room. Her only concern now was how to escape this man’s captivity and go far away.
  • After some minutes the maid came back with a panic stricken face, she had went to check up on the new girl but she had disappeared. Nobody saw where she went and whether she was able to get out of the compound. It was a strange occurrence because the mansion was heavily guarded.
  • Immediately Willy heard those words he ran in to the room and the truth is that the damn woman climbed out of the window using several bed sheets which she tied together. She was such a strange woman. How could a normal woman do something like that? Did she want to get herself killed? Or was it another game of her to try and show him that she was not interested in him?
  • However when he turned around to leave the room, he saw a note on the sink, it was written in a clear handwriting. No one would have been able to miss it, unless the person was blind.
  • “Goodbye my legal husband”
  • “I am Sorry I have to go.”
  • This silly girl thinks that she will beat me, let me see between me and her who is the teacher. I own the city and she will not be the first person to ever try to escape from me.
  • “Guards” he yelled.” Search the whole neighborhood for the girl. I know she hasn’t gone far. Make sure you come back with her.
  • Sally knew that the man will try to go after her, so she just hid herself well in the compound as the guards went around in panic searching for her along the roads. She was cleverer than they had originally thought because after driving in the chilly night for a while, they couldn’t find her.
  • It was the winter time, and she was so cold to the bones. She could feel the urge to sneeze but she wouldn’t dare arouse any suspicion for her whereabouts that will make the pain she had gone through a waste of time.
  • The thought of her mother being worried about her by now made her even more determined. When the guards finally halted the operation, she slowly climbed the fence taking care that she wouldn’t be seen and in no time she was already on the main road.
  • The road was deserted, not even a single vehicle could be seen. Her heart sank, but still she was glad she had escaped that man’s house. It wasn’t the first time she was going to walk for such a long distance so she just prepared her mind emotionally and physically as she headed on the road towards the slums where she lived.
  • It was almost dawn when she knocked on her own apartment and her mother didn’t take too much time to open the door. She was worried and Sally noticed black marks underneath her swollen and red eyes.
  • Amelia had stayed awake all through the night thinking that something bad had happened to her baby girl. She just lost a son and she wouldn’t bear the pain of losing another child.
  • She hugged him so tight, Amelia thought that she was going to choke from her firm hold. Sally’s icy hands held her neck and she shivered from the shock.
  • “Honey what happened?” asked Amelia.
  • “Mommy we have to pack our things. We have to go, he will find me.”
  • Sally was saying incoherent things that her similarly worried mother couldn’t understand. She was frightened and she didn’t want to go through what just happened to her tonight.
  • “Start from the beginning, you just disappeared and now you come back telling me that we have to go. Where will we go honey?”
  • “I don’t know. All I want is to get the hell away from this city, nothing good comes out here.”
  • Seeing the level of desperation and fear in her daughter’s eyes, she concluded immediately that something terrible must have happened to her .She was always a very strong woman capable to shoulders so much burden that the world brought on her life. Her eyes sparkled suddenly as an idea came to her head.
  • “Okay I know what we will do. We will go back home to the village, at least there we will be safe and no one will be able to find you. As for me I will go and continue with my tailoring business as I feel that I have recovered.”
  • “Besides I also want to see where my son was buried. I never had the chance to grieve for him properly. However, the more I think about his death I couldn’t help wondering if it was an accident or not. What happened that day was very strange, I can still remember the events very well.”
  • “Mommy do you mean that someone tried to kill you?” Her eyes were now filled with hate and if it was true that they were victims, she will never rests until she finds the culprit. It will be her life’s mission.
  • “Yes the car sped immediately after hitting the car that your brother borrowed for us to come visit you in the city.”
  • “If that is the case then I will never rests until justice is served. My brother’s death will not go in vain. This is my promise to you. However before we go, I have another business to take care of and I will be back shortly. Don’t open the door to strangers, okay.”
  • “Yes honey, May God bless you”
  • In the next thirty minutes she was in the Jones Family. She had to hear from them for the last time why they couldn’t pay her the money. The familiar mansion where she had lived for almost ten years came to view. Oh how she gets strong shivers when she remembers all that she had to go through while living with the people.
  • She entered the house and was met with both Alex and Ruth, they were seated on the living room drinking a cup of coffee. This was something they loved to do when they were free and wanted each other’s company.
  • “Don’t tell me you still came for the money. Look at you? You are so filthy and to think that you went and slept with a stranger, who knows what kind of diseases you are carrying in your body.”
  • Lately it seemed that everybody was bent on reminding her how filthy she was and that she carried some strange disease. She was starting to get really pissed off and this coming from the bastard who ruined her life, she didn’t want to show any more respect.
  • “Uncle, yes I am all that because of you heartless people. But what I can’t seem to get out of my mind is shouldn’t the one who made me look filthy pay for the services? You people always saw me as a lesser human being, but I came here to look at you in the face and ask you to be kind enough and let me go .I want you to clear my debt with you because I have already settled it by sleeping with the stranger.
  • “You owe us too much and you can never be able to repay it all, but being that I am a good person, I will give you this 2,000 dollars so that you won’t say that I mistreated you. “ He threw the money on the floor for her to pick.
  • As she bent down to pick it, she knew that may be he had been given much more and as always he was going to keep it for himself. However deep inside she was relieved because she didn’t even have fare to go back to the village with her mother.
  • “Be thankful to your luck that we are giving you that money?” Ruth Snarled
  • Sally had never liked that woman and now she swore that she would never have anything to do with the family. She was a Foster and not a Jones .She sneered and turned to head out of the house, when she heard a car being parked at the front parlor.
  • “Well, who do we have here? Did you come to contaminate us with your dirty body” She was now fed up and her blood was boiling to the highest degree. If the stupid woman continues to speak like that she will lose her patience right that moment.
  • “Nina Jones, I don’t want your trouble. I have accomplished what I came to do here and I will never bother you ever again.” Then she turned to walk away.
  • “Come back here you low life.” She shouted. Did you come to beg for money again? Are you ever going to be satisfied? Did the man not pay you?
  • “Like a lightening she turned and gave her a hard slap on the face and smiled afterwards.” I have always wanted to hit you so hard you spoiled little brat. All those days you made my life miserable weren’t even enough for you to leave me in peace.”
  • “How dare you lay your hands on my daughter, get lost” Alex growled as he hugged Nina and led her back to the house. She was sobbing pitifully and her cheeks had already turned red. She stamped her feet hard on the floor and went straight to her bedroom and banged the door behind her.
  • Ruth wanted to go and console her but on a second thought she decided to let her be until she calm down.
  • “You know I hope that Willy Logan will believe that our daughter is the one who gave her virginity to him to save his life. In that case he wouldn’t hesitate to take her as his wife and it won’t be difficult for us to form a business alliance with them.”
  • “Yes Alex, I am aware that the Logan family has the largest business empire in the entire city and every one was looking at the opportunity to marry their daughter legally to them. Once Nina bears them a child then we won’t have to suffer any more.
  • “What worries me is that Old Mr. Logan is so particular about family background, what if she rejects our daughter because we adopted her?
  • “Don’t worry, everything will turn out well. Willy is also his illegitimate son and was even able to climb to the top to control the family entire fortune.
  • “Our daughter is well behaved and educated, all she has to do is convince Willy that she was the one who gave her virginity to him. I wish that the stupid Sally will not appear on the picture again to ruin our life. Right now she is clueless to whom she slept with and that works best to our advantage”
  • At that thought Ruth smiled and put the matter to rests. But there was something that she will never forgive. All this years she has been grieving the death of her only son and it was all Amelia Foster’s fault. Her baby boy died while her own survived because she was kind enough to try to help her.
  • Secretly she had transferred the hate she had for her to his daughter and she couldn’t care what happens to her. She and her whole family was a curse in her presence.
