• Isla had prepared her painting, but in the end, she didn't finish it.
• Mattew sat by the bed, watching Isla sleep with tear stains on her face. His gaze was intense.
• He grabbed his pack of cigarettes and walked out to the balcony. He looked at the easel and painting tools she'd set up. He took a cigarette out and tried to light it. The lighter felt tight in his grip, and he bit down hard on the cigarette, leaving deep teeth marks. Anger roiled in his eyes.
