Chapter 21

• The car suddenly came to a halt after colliding with a long metal pole. The car was dented so badly. Lucas stumbled out of the wreckage, his head spinning. He touched his forehead which was bleeding profusely already. He fell to his knees, his vision blurring. The sound of screeching tires and Maria's screams still echoed in his mind.
• With a sudden surge of adrenaline, Lucas crawled towards Maria and pulled her out of the car. She was limp, her face pale. He shook her violently, his heart racing.
• "Maria, Maria wake up. Please, I didn't mean to." Lucas begged, his voice shaking.
