- Selene's hands didn’t even shake as she pressed them to Liora’s chest—magic flickered under her palms, barely lighting up the gloom in that tired old sanctuary. The fever? Yeah, it’d mostly backed off, but Liora still looked like she’d lost a brawl with a ghost, skin all washed out, lips a weird shade of not-quite-living.
- “She’s stable. For now,” Selene muttered, pulling her hands back. She shot me this look, all sharp edges and no patience. “But not for long. If we keep her here, she may not recover.”
