Chapter 6

  • "Get in!" He commanded as soon as we arrived in front of a car.
  • "Where the fuck are we going to?" Lora whimpered, but at this point, I wished I knew the answer.
  • I sat in the back seat with him beside me, but his face wasn't turned to me; rather, he was staring at the road while his driver drove us past different places.
  • "Where are you taking me to?" I finally decided to speak up after contemplating whether I would die if I said those words or not.
  • "You'll know when we get there," he answered. I wouldn't count it as an answer because it didn't satisfy my curiosity, but now all I had to do was to fervently pray that I wouldn't end up in a bad state.
  • I noticed his driver pulled over at a huge, fancy store. I immediately recognized the store because I would always pass by sometimes and wish I could shop there. Most of my rich classmates did their shopping there while we were still in middle school.
  • There was a day when Ariel noticed how badly I wanted to shop in the store and came up with an idea to ask the Luna for some money, but she had refused because Asher implicated them both.
  • She dragged my arms into the store, and they immediately welcomed her as the Alpha's daughter, but instead of purchasing anything, we ended up testing dozens of clothes, and they were even nice enough to give us some confectioneries.
  • The look on their faces when Ariel and I both walked out without buying anything was priceless, and the memories of it got me laughing so hard that I didn't realize the beast was still beside me.
  • "What's funny?" He asked.
  • "It's nothing," I immediately replied, after clearing my throat and wearing a serious face.
  • "Actually, why did you bring me here?" I asked, but he tilted his head away from me. Sometimes I get really offended by the way he responds to me, but I dare not utter a word against him.
  • "Get down!" He commanded as he got down from the car. His response definitely wasn't the one I was expecting, but I had no choice but to obey.
  • I got down from the car to meet him waiting for me. The moment he sighted me, he entered the store and I followed behind like a little puppy.
  • I saw him having a discussion with the manager, whose face I clearly remembered, but I wished he would not remember mine.
  • "Yes, sir!" The manager immediately answered and walked up to meet me.
  • "Right this way, miss," he said gently as he led me away from the reception area, and I could see the fear in his eyes. I turned to look at the beast who had made himself comfortable on the sofa while the rest of the workers were on their knees with their heads bowed to him.
  • "Scum!" I scoffed but immediately covered my mouth. I really do hope he didn't hear me. The manager gave me a look that clearly said, "do not implicate me."
  • "Amelia!" The manager screamed so loudly that I had to cover my ears.
  • "Please take care of her!" The manager immediately ordered that the young lady run to meet us.
  • "Yes sir," she obeyed before walking up to meet me. She softly held my hands and raised my chin so she could look into my eyes.
  • I would have freaked out if her hands weren't so soft and her grey eyes weren't so warm.
  • "You look beautiful," she complimented, and I could feel the redness popping up in my cheeks. This is absolutely the first time someone who isn't Ariel told me I was beautiful.
  • She led me to some dress sections and selected quite a lot of dresses for me to try out.
  • They all looked so beautiful and I knew they must be really expensive with the quality of the materials and beautiful designs of the dresses.
  • "Does this look good?" I asked Amelia immediately as I came out of the dressing room.
  • "You look."
  • "Perfect!" As Alaric walked in and interrupted Amelia, I could sense her trembling at the sight of him as she immediately went on her knees to bow down to him.
  • "Th... thank you, I suppose," I stammered.
  • "Try on the rest of the clothes," he ordered, and I nodded my head before walking into the dressing room with a wine-coloured dress in my hand.
  • When I came out of the dressing room to meet him seated, his eyes scanned my body from my head to my toes, and I felt really awkward.
  • "I'll go try the rest on," I whispered, but as I was about to turn back, his voice stopped me.
  • "Wait a minute!" He ordered, and I found myself frozen. I had no idea what he was up to, and it wasn't making me feel any less uncomfortable.
  • I could feel his presence behind me and it was making it hard for me to breathe. His cold hands trailed on my hands, making me flinch with goosebumps all over my skin.
  • He turned my body to face him, but I still couldn't dare look into his eyes because I feared I might turn into stone.
  • "Look at me in the eyes, baby girl!" He commanded and carefully lifted my chin to meet his eyes.
  • My heart kept on racing fast, making it possible for even a newborn to hear it without a stethoscope.
  • "Don't be scared," he said, while his hands kept on trailing down my arms.
  • But before I could comprehend anything that was happening, he pulled me closer to him, and my head was now pressed against his rock-hard chest.
  • I had no idea why he was doing this, but what I found really strange was the fact that my body submitted to him. I had no idea why I hadn't pushed him away or why I was somehow liking this.
  • His hands left my arms as they trailed to my waist. The gown has a really big opening in the back, making it possible for his cold hands to touch my bare skin.
  • "Don't give me any problems, baby girl!" He ordered, and I swallowed the lump in my throat before nodding my head.
  • Just when I thought this was a perfect moment with our bodies tight against each other, I heard a loud noise coming from the reception and it was turning into chaos.
  • "I promise to kill him today!" The voice yelled, and Alaric's hands left my body as he went out of the dressing room section.
  • "You monster, you killed my whole family and today marks the end of you!" The voice yelled again, and it was then that I knew it was something really serious.
  • I ran out of the room, still in my wine dress, to meet Alaric, standing elegantly with no emotion of being bothered.
  • The man who was yelling was about to stab Alaric with the small knife he held when his guards suddenly held the man and broke his arms.
  • One of Alaric's guards was about to slit his throat with the knife he had with him earlier, and my eyes turned to Alaric, hoping he would stop them and save the poor man.
  • "Stop!" Alaric ordered as he raised a finger in the air. His guards immediately responded and they left the wailing man on the floor to battle with the pain of his broken arms.
  • He was a minor, so there was no way he was going to heal very fast.
  • I was somehow glad that Alaric had let them spare his life. Maybe he had some conscience after all and wasn't so bad.
  • He slowly walked up to the man and ordered him to stand on his feet. The man obeyed but was reluctant at first.
  • "Would you like to meet your family once and for all?" But before I could process the question well in my head, the blood of the man splashed all over my face, and my eyes widened in awe.
  • Everyone's faces in the store were covered with blood. I don't know how he did it with his hands, but the man's lifeless body was on the floor.
  • "Clean up this mess!" He ordered the manager, and he nodded his head in response immediately.
  • "Let's continue our selections, shall we?" He walked up to hold my hands, but I jerked them away from him.
  • "You..you're truly a monster!" I yelled, but as he was about to hold my arms again, my vision suddenly started to become blurry and my head couldn't stop spinning.
  • I was losing my mind and in no time, everything turned blank.
  • ******
  • My eyes fluttered as the rays of the light shone on my face. I tried to get up, but the heavy ache in my head forced me to lie back on the bed.
  • I shut my eyes tight as I was trying to remember what had happened before. I suddenly remembered everything and my body abruptly stood up, like it wasn't just having a headache some while ago.
  • "You're awake!" The cold voice softly rang across my room, making me flinch at the sound of it.
  • Stay away from me, you monster!" I yelled as I walked towards the door with my face turned to him. I was scared I could be the next dead wolf.
  • I glanced down at my body and realized I was still wearing the same wine dress I had earlier on. I touched my face to acknowledge the fact that the man's blood was now dried on my face.
  • At this point, I couldn't take it in any longer as I suddenly vomited on the floor. At this point, I didn't care if it was in his room or not.
  • "You need some help?" He asked, but I flashed him a stern look, warning him to not come any closer, but he wasn't bothered by my look as he stood up from the chair he was seated on and walked towards me and my pile of vomit.
  • "Stay away from me, you monster. I'm warning you! " I threw him an empty threat. It's not like I was capable of doing anything.
  • "Why should I? You were enjoying what I was doing to your body yesterday, so why should I stay away, Lenora? " He stated, and I couldn't be more disgusted, not with him but at the thought of me letting him touch me.
  • "Pretend none of that ever happened, because I wouldn't even let a beast like you come near me!" I spat.
  • "I had no idea you had a weak heart," he said, but it's quiet now.
  • It made me feel bad that even a new person could easily tell I was weak. I wasn't even supposed to feel bad because that's the truth.
  • I don't even think an elementary scholar would pass out merely by the sight of blood, much less of a wolf from a hunter family.
  • I was ashamed of myself and never felt more embarrassed. I could feel some tears building up in my eyes, but I refused to let him see me showing how much more of a weakling I was.
  • I turned away from him and ran out of the door. No one was up yet and it was just me and my miserable self in the hallway.
  • I finally got to my room, and the moment I opened the door, I saw a pile of bags containing clothes on my bed.
  • I ignored the clothes but immediately pulled off the haunting wine gown that was on me and walked straight into the bathroom to at least cleanse my eyes of what I witnessed.
