Chapter 4 Is The CEO My Husband?
- Lora
- After my werewolf "husband" left, I returned to work at the magazine office.
- My colleagues at work were all ordinary humans. There was a rule in Torrent City that werewolves could not casually reveal their identities in front of humans, otherwise they would be expelled from Torrent City and subjected to a life of wandering. So, no one knew that I was a werewolf.
- When I arrived at the office, it wasn't time for the afternoon interview.
- I spoke with the HR department of the company and informed them that I was already married and would soon transfer my household registration to Torrent City.
- After confirming that the company could arrange family insurance because of my local household registration, I heaved a sigh of relief.
- Although the marriage situation today had been too impulsive, I'd finally solved the thing I had been most worried about. I no longer had to worry about living a wandering life - and my mother's medical expenses were also taken care of.
- With this spare time, I took the bank card Mr. Vaughn gave me and went to the nearby mall to buy a pair of wedding rings. Shopping for rings was mercifully short and in less than twenty minutes, I walked out the mall with a pair of stainless steel bands and something extra for myself.
- Sitting down in the office, I was about to read the materials for the afternoon interview again when Nancy slid her chair over, her eyes shining, and asked with a nod to my fingers, "Lora, what's the deal with this ring?"
- "You've got sharp eyes." I had no intention of hiding it, after all, the HR department of the company already knew I was married, and I guessed that everyone would know soon.
- "I got married."
- "Omg, congratulations!" Nancy's gaze fell back on my diamond ring, "Your husband bought that rock for you? How much did it cost?"
- "Over a thousand dollars." I was not sure about Aston's background, so I chose the cheapest and most ordinary style.
- Nancy's eyebrows furrowed even tighter.
- "Lora, this won't do." She said seriously, "This ring is a symbol of marriage. A man who is not willing to buy you a better ring, how reliable can he be?"
- "Just do what you can." I replied lightly. As a werewolf, I really couldn't understand why humans were so obsessed with comparing jewelry and handbags.
- "Okay, let's not talk about this." I changed the subject, not wanting to dwell on the issue, "How's the preparation for the afternoon interview going?"
- My distraction technique was successful. "Girl, I'm a hundred percent ready! Tell me, what do you think about my outfit?"
- She struck a pose as she said this, and I took in the pink and white suit skirt that fit against her every curve. Her hair was obviously carefully styled and all in all, she looked breathtaking.
- "Looks great," I praised generously.
- Nancy instantly beamed, her eyes sparkling, "So, Lora, do you think the CEO of Nova Group, that diamond tycoon, will take a liking to me?"
- Of course.
- only then did I understand the reason why Nancy was all dolled up - the CEO of Nova Group, whom we were going to interview in the afternoon.
- Nova Group was like a legend. Two years ago, the corporate giant suddenly established itself in the bustling city, quickly gaining a foothold in the financial world with extremely domineering methods.
- And the CEO of Nova Group was even more intriguing than the group itself.
- No one knew what he looked like or sounded like. The man was either a recluse or an enigma.
- I regarded Nancy with amusement, "Nancy, do you really want to leave an impression on him? Aren't you afraid he's actually an old bald guy?"
- "Pfft! I don't believe it!" Nancy vehemently disagreed. "Everyone says that the CEO of Nova Group is especially young!"
- Unlike Nancy's eager anticipation, Jess beside her interjected seriously, "This interview opportunity is rare, we must be well prepared. This is the first time the CEO of Nova Group has accepted a media interview. If we can get a picture, it will definitely boost our magazine's sales to new heights."
- I nodded in agreement. The CEO of Nova Group indeed never accepted interviews. When our magazine first invited him, we were rejected, but I don't know what changed. He suddenly called yesterday and agreed to the interview.
- I quickly checked the content of the interview that we were going to conduct later. Jess, Nancy, and I, along with the photographer, went to Nova Group together.
- The headquarters was a modern skyscraper located in the financial district of the bustling city. After greeting the receptionist on the first floor, we took the elevator directly to the top floor.
- " Ethos Magazine?" A polished woman approached us with a smile. "Mr. Vaughn is already waiting for you inside, if you'd like to follow me."
- Mr. Vaughn?
- I was stunned. I never expected that the mysterious CEO of Nova Group shared the same surname as my newlywed husband.
- As I walked into the office and saw the figure by the floor-to-ceiling window, I instantly froze.
- At this moment, Nancy's gaze also fell on the man by the window, and she whispered in a low voice, "Oh my god, the CEO of Nova Group... is... in a wheelchair?"
- Before I could answer, the wheelchair by the window slowly turned around.
- "Wow. He's way too handsome! He's even more good-looking than an actual celebrity!"
- But I wasn't paying attention to her exaggerated exclamation.
- I was too busy staring at the man by the window in front of me, feeling like my mind was about to explode.
- My husband and the CEO of Nova Group were one and the same.
