Chapter 217

• Beth walked back through the living room and went to the phone. She was going to call her Uncle up as she didn't feel like sitting in the house all alone, waiting. Holding off for a moment, she wondered if she should just go to the lake and hide underwater with Lurky until everyone got back. That seemed like the best thing to do and she should tell her Uncle that. As she went to pick up the phone it rang, causing her to jump. Swallowing hard from the sudden start, she picked it up. "Hello?" she asked.
• "Hi Beth, it's James," her brother-in-law said on the other end.
• "Oh, hi James. I-I wasn't expecting you to call."
