Chapter 2 Airport Encounter

  • Scott's eyes widened in an instant. This woman actually dared to slap his backside!
  • Even his father wouldn't dare to lay a finger on him!
  • Wait, why didn't she get electrocuted?
  • After finishing her lecture, Whitney didn't hear the usual chatter from the little troublemaker, which made her feel strange.
  • Usually, this mischievous child would never miss an opportunity to cause trouble. Could he be plotting something in his mind?
  • Lowering her head, she saw the little troublemaker in her arms looking at her with a bewildered expression.
  • "Morris, why are you staring at me like that? Did you draw a turtle on my face while I wasn't looking?"
  • As Whitney thought about touching her own face, Scott pushed her away and took two steps back.
  • How come this woman didn't get electrocuted after touching me? Could it be that I'm no longer leaking electricity?
  • Scott reached out with a small hand and tentatively grabbed the stainless steel handrail next to him.
  • There was a crackling sound, followed by several loud bangs.
  • Starting from Scott, the lights above his head went out one after another.
  • In an instant, the entire airport plunged into darkness!
  • The sudden darkness caused panic in the airport, and screams and sounds of people fleeing filled the air.
  • Whitney thought they were under some kind of terrorist attack. Without thinking about anything else, she picked up the little troublemaker and ran outside.
  • Fortunately, the airport's announcement came quickly. "Dear passengers, due to a circuit malfunction, maintenance personnel are currently working on repairs. We apologize for any inconvenience caused..."
  • It turned out to be just a circuit malfunction. Whitney breathed a sigh of relief and put the little troublemaker down on the ground.
  • "Morris, wait for Mommy here, and don't run around. I'll go get the luggage and come back."
  • M-Mommy?
  • This unfamiliar term made Scott stunned in place.
  • The lights in the airport hadn't returned to normal yet, so Whitney took out her phone and turned on the flashlight to light the way.
  • As she approached the baggage carousel, screams erupted one after another.
  • "Aaaah, it's Sabrina Stark!"
  • "We love you, Sabrina!"
  • "Sabrina, look at me!"
  • Hearing Sabrina's name, Whitney clenched her fist and tried to change her path. However, in the darkness, she accidentally bumped into a broad chest while turning a corner.
  • A familiar scent of pine made Whitney's scalp tingle in an instant!
  • Because she had smelled this scent for three whole years, it had been etched into her very bones!
  • It was Yoel!
  • "You..."
  • Being bumped into by someone, Yoel, the germophobe CEO, was extremely displeased. But before he could say anything, the person who bumped into him turned their head and ran away, not even offering an apology.
  • At that moment, electricity was restored in the airport, and Yoel happened to see the fleeing figure, turning a corner and revealing half of a side profile that made him grit his teeth in hatred!
  • Whitney?!
  • Was it really that despicable woman?
  • Yoel was about to chase after her when Sabrina hooked her arm through his.
  • "Sorry, Yoel. I didn't expect to be recognized by fans and cause you trouble. Let's hurry and leave. Scott's illness is more important."
  • Looking down at Sabrina's arm looping through his, Yoel discreetly retracted it.
  • Just then, his assistant, Larry Quinn, rushed over in a hurry.
  • "Mr. Grant, something bad happened. Mr. Scott is missing!"
  • Yoel frowned. "What happened?"
  • Larry, sweating profusely, replied, "Ten minutes ago, Mr. Scott said he wanted to use the restroom. We waited outside for five minutes but didn't see him come out. When we went in to check, we found... we found that Mr. Scott had escaped through the window!"
  • Yoel's face turned extremely pale.
  • When Scott was brought to him by the century-old, prestigious medical family, the Sylvester Family, he was less than a hundred days old and on the verge of death due to congenital heart disease.
  • He initially didn't believe it when his son suddenly appeared out of nowhere—until the Sylvesters presented DNA paternity test results confirming the biological father-son relationship.
  • And Yoel was certain that he had only slept with Whitney, which meant that she secretly gave birth to a child and abandoned him!
  • To save his life, Yoel had no choice but to agree to a heart transplant, but after the surgery, there were often issues with electrical leakage.
  • So today, he had planned to take him for a checkup, but he never expected that this little guy would dare to run away!
  • "You useless bunch of people! If you don't find Scott, all of you can pack up and leave!"
  • Sabrina's face lit up with a smug smile when she heard that Scott was missing.
  • Back then, she had deliberately used a fake pregnancy report to force Whitney to leave. If it weren't for this sudden troublemaker, she would have long claimed the title of Mrs. Grant. She wished Scott would just die outside and never come back!
  • But on the surface, Sabrina pretended to be very worried. "Scott is only three years old. It would be dangerous if he ran into human traffickers!"
  • Meanwhile, pulling her luggage along, Whitney held Scott's hand, having left the airport.
  • "This way, Whitney!"
  • Her best friend, Zita Lenton, had already arrived, wearing a pair of oversized sunglasses that covered half of her face.
  • Zita dropped out of high school and was discovered by a talent scout, and she had been struggling in the entertainment industry for years. She had been relatively unknown until she played a malicious supporting female character last year, unexpectedly becoming popular. So now she had to disguise herself when going out.
  • Zita gave Whitney a big hug.
  • "Welcome back, my beautiful author!"
  • After the hug, Zita wanted to hug Scott, too. "Oh, my little baby, Godmother missed you so much. Come here, and let me give you a kiss!"
  • This woman is so intimidating!
  • Scott was scared and hid behind Whitney, only showing a pair of amber eyes, cautiously watching Zita.
  • "Why does Morris seem like he doesn't recognize me?"
  • Whitney patted his little head. "How could that be? Maybe he's just being shy after I scolded him."
  • "Zita, please drop me off at the subway station later. I'll take the subway there. Can you take care of Morris for a while? I'll come pick him up after I finish my business."
  • Zita clicked her tongue disapprovingly. "If you continue to be so formal with me, I'll be upset with you. You've just returned to Lithberg and haven't found a house yet, right? Stay at my place for now. It's settled, and I won't accept any objections!"
  • Whitney knew that Zita was concerned about her managing two children alone.
  • It had been tough for her when she was pregnant. She was alone in a foreign country and started writing novels to support herself. Because she had studied editing and publishing in college, her writing skills were quite good, and her first book turned out to be a huge success online.
  • Thanks to this writing job, Whitney and her two children were living comfortably abroad.
  • This time, she returned to the country because a company was interested in adapting her first novel into a TV series.
  • This book held great significance for Whitney. She hadn't sold the copyright to the publishing website, so she, as the author, needed to personally attend the negotiations for the adaptation.
  • "Morris, Mommy has some business matters to attend to right now. I'll bring you some custard tarts when I come back. Behave well with your godmother."
  • After saying that, Whitney, as usual, kissed the little troublemaker on his cheek.
  • Scott's eyes widened, and his face instantly turned red!
  • Scott, who had a strong obsession with cleanliness, suddenly realized that maybe kissing wasn't so unpleasant after all.
  • Just as Whitney left, Scott jumped out of the car, wanting to chase after her.
  • Zita quickly held him back and said, "My little darling, your mommy just went to work. Since when did the little devil become so clingy?"
