• “The person Gervaise assigned to watch me was indebted to me. I helped get his mother the medical attention she needed to save her life. He couldn’t stand the lengths Gervaise went to for power, so he sent me away in secret. The man lied to Gervaise that I remained under lock and key. I realized things were not as simple as they seemed after I fled. I had to pull myself together and dig into the truth. I contacted an old friend, and he helped send me to Mydosa for surgery. The surgery went well without interference. I kept up with my physiotherapy sessions and used my connections to investigate Gervaise. I held proof of his crimes over the past two years. I remained in Mydosa until the time was right to present the incriminating evidence at the board meeting that decided the shift of successors.
