Chapter 6

  • Chapter: "Shot To The Heart"
  • POV. Aleksander
  • I take that son of a bitch by the neck, I attack him with my eyes, I do not let go. One of the things I hate is being challenged, breaking my rules and refusing to abide by them.
  • "Can't you just follow a single damn order ?!" Better get out of my sight or you're a dead man "I snap him free, the good-for-nothing idiot falls to the ground trying to regain his oxygen -. You know what? Stop right there.
  • Change of mind by drawing the weapon.
  • "I won't fail again, sir," he speaks fast like a scared rodent.
  • "Of course not, see you, Steven," he spat, shooting her straight in the chest.
  • His death is quick, he deserved it. I hate that pool of blood that has formed around him, so I call Arkady to clean up the mess and dispose of the corpse.
  • I remain furious, striking all over the place. Dammit! With this that he has gone wrong, I must fix it before returning to the United States. I will leave Volkov in charge, the only one who is available and capable of doing things well.
  • Soon after, the soldier arrived. He knows what to do, you don't need to explain it to him.
  • "How was the confrontation?"
  • "Everything under control, sir."
  • "Perfect, I'll go out, I have to take a flight to New York."
  • "Sir…" he calls, I turn before leaving.
  • -What?
  • —Your father Dimitri wants to speak with you, now he is in the room.
  • -In agreement. I leave the office.
  • My father awaits me comfortable in the armchair. I exchange glances with him. With an effort he rises to his feet and smiles.
  • "Father, shouldn't you be home?"
  • "According to the doctor, it should be underground by now." Look at me, this damn disease can't with me. "He lets out an exaggerated laugh.
  • My father Dimitri has a damn cancer, the doctor has said that he does not have much left, but he is still breathing. Before he reaches the last breath of his life he has left me in charge of everything, that's why now I am the leader of the Russian mafia.
  • I sit in front of him.
  • "I have everything in order, don't worry."
  • "I don't worry, son." I know you know how to do things. I don't know what he would do without you, because Dominic is so young and inexperienced, he needs to be taught.
  • "Dominic doesn't want anything with the mafia, he told you, he's a mother's boy," I say seriously.
  • "I don't care, if I die I want you to take care of him, yes or yes he has to join the family business." It is not a question of whether he wants to or not, Dominic must do it, period.
  • -Understood.
  • "How did yesterday turn out?" —He questions him.
  • "Did you hear the shot?" I ask, taking a deep breath.
  • "He couldn't do the job and you finished him off." "Tie him in conclusion."
  • "Yes, you know me, I hate mistakes."
  • He nods.
  • "Is the girl here?" She wants to know, his gray eyes light up.
  • "That's right, do you want to see it?"
  • "No, if I do, I assure you I'll kill her, I'd rather you do it." Aleksander, promise me you'll murder her.
  • "Father," I look at him with a smile. I will have a lot of fun with Luna, but her days are numbered.
  • "Elena's dog will suffer, I hope she is still here to appreciate her pain."
  • ...
  • The trip is exhausting, I arrive at the company. With my imposing presence the chattering stops, the giggles at some joke, the relaxed atmosphere turns into a fearful silence. The employees each returned to their workplace.
  • Yes, I the tycoon have wiped all iota of joy from his faces.
  • "Good morning," I greet like soil, cold and exaggerating the formalism.
  • They all correspond in a terrified greeting, waiting for my next action: the slam of the door of my office. What I don't do in question. My almost fierce attention shifts to Henrie, the rookie who was taking over from the marketing area. I keep looking at him in that dangerous and intimidating way that makes anyone tremble.
  • As a good observer, I know that the expectant already pray to heaven for the young man who under my deep gaze, barely blinks. In a flash I face him, I still do not say a single word, that he did not speak meant more danger for that idiot.
  • "Who allowed you to fill in for Marcus, eh?" I demand mordant.
  • "Y-sir ...
  • "Whatever your name is, I'll want you in my office in thirty minutes," he demanded.
  • Nearby I can hear the chatter of that gossipy pair. They are not ashamed, I should kick them out of my company.
  • "He's a beast, no one is going to want the vacancy."
  • -What do you say? The other whispers.
  • "You heard me," she answers obviously. They all end up resigning in less than a week, the next one that exceeds seven days should be in the Guinness record book
  • "Did they call about the position?"
  • "That's what the receptionist told me, who will be the next victim, eh?"
  • —The poor thing doesn't know what awaits her, I already feel sorry for her.
  • Enough. I approach both of them, I see them tremble with my closeness. Inside I enjoy generating terror in women. The two of them are looking at me with wide eyes.
  • "Is that what they do all day?" I blurt out fiercely. Quit the gossip and get to work, if you don't quit at once.
  • -Mister…
  • —Y-y
  • Or ... I'll go back to my post, with permission.
  • "I didn't say you can go, Mackandal." I stare at the female coward. At the first mistake, you are fired, do you understand?
  • "Yes, Mr. Konstantinov," she says downcast. Can I go to my post?
  • "Yes, you too go Brickmann," she pointed at the other with her chin.
  • "Okay, with permission, boss."
  • I take a look around me, as I imagined, everyone is aware of what is happening. I demand with a loud voice that they start working, then I go to the office, slamming the door. Once in my swivel chair, I make a call.
  • It does not reassure me to know that it will be at least a week without being able to see Luna. I need to start doing everything my father asked me to do, he urges me to make my mother's whore pay for her abandonment of her, for her infidelity with that damned Miller.
  • "Luna," I savor her name, I think I have behaved outside of her, but I will no longer be patronizing with her.
  • As soon as I return to Russia, I will give her the welcome she deserves.
  • "Sir, Konstantinov," they call and knock on the door at the same time.
  • Can't I be alone for even a second?
  • "It may come in, Greenwald," I give my secretary Grizela permission.
  • The attractive redhead walks in and tries to piss me off with her flirtatiousness. She believes that I bite the hook, in reality I am the one who catches, nobody imprisons me. Her expressive greenish eyes are quick to look at me with double intentions, she beats her lashes seductively. Her methods are ridiculous, an old-fashioned interlude that doesn't capture my interest. The idyll that we had must remain in that, a simple adventure, but she does not overcome it.
  • "Alek, I brought you your favorite tea, I thought you could use it." How are you? She —she asks, placing the cup containing the steaming liquid on my desk. Should I thank you? -. And here are the documents, she apologizes for being late, but she wouldn't be so busy if you had an assistant too.
  • She is right, but if she focused only on work, she would perform better. She cast her eyes on the hot drink. I take a sip, she is how I like her, there is no doubt that she wants something. I sense that she is looking for the usual: sex and money or just sex. Grizela is still just anybody. I take another sip, glancing at the pages she has brought. Apparently I'll have to stay up the night checking everything.
  • I go back to her, she doesn't say anything about her, waiting for me to finally tell her about her.
  • "What do you want, Grizela?" "I'll get straight to the point." She is hesitant, I have hit the nail on the head, her nervousness is a sign that behind her actions there are interests -. She speaks either now or leave at once.
  • "I… Aleksander I'm pregnant," she blurts out.
  • The news overwhelms me, with a limp jaw and wide-open eyes I get up from the chair.
  • "What the fuck are you saying, Grizela?" —I question incredulous, the security has been extinguished of her being, I can bet that at any second she will start crying. I can't imagine dealing with it. Fuck -. Speaks! It's a prank?
  • "No, Alek - she isn't even able to look at me." She is fearful, she cannot hide it -. I didn't believe it either, I swear I took care of myself, always, but I'm expecting a baby.
  • She breaks down in tears.
  • I'm not going to hug her, her performance stuns me. I stop to reflect, I can't transform myself, be a monster here. But I will not allow that baby to step on this world. That would tie me to this tapped who surely planned everything to get rewards.
  • "Grizela, try to calm down, sit down." Everything has a solution, I am sure.
  • She takes a seat, little by little the impertinent whining subsides.
  • -What are you talking about?
  • "I'm talking about you're getting rid of the baby, I'll give you the money and we'll keep this between the two of us." In agreement?
  • -But…
  • "No buts," she warned harshly. This is what you will do if you want to keep your job and a normal life.
  • Nod slowly.
