• Janet raised an eyebrow as Connor’s deep voice echoed through the empty house. She looked at him with a puzzled expression. “What?”
• “When I last visited you, you were in college, aspiring to be an actress. From tiny flies to the sound of someone shouting, my delicate daughter was scared of almost everything. She has changed so much. I don’t recognize her anymore.” Connor stepped forward.
• “Aren’t you asking this question a bit too late?” she raised an eyebrow. “Three years! For three years, you didn’t bother to check if we were alive or dead.” Tears welled up in her eyes. “We called you like crazy!”
