Chapter 8
- Ivory's POV
- I woke up to the sun rays that peeked into an unfamiliar exquisite bedroom which was decorated with warm grey and black oriental patterns, which seemed to burst out from the deep wall behind them.
- Original art on the walls, windows that open to an ecstatic view, robes, and slippers placed neatly beside the edge of the bed.
- The King-size bed was situated at the center of the room with High-quality furnishings with opulent, expensive touches, a quiet room with fresh and ventilated air mixed with lavender fragrance emanating from the stranger with his short sleek black hair spluttered on his face, his fair skin tone complemented his look, his thin pouted pink lips looked so enticing inviting me over.
- The bathroom is at the left-hand side of the room, just by the other side of the room there was also a see-through glass that led to the swimming area with a scene so magnificent but who gives a fuck with all these as the memories from the last night flooded my memories and I shuddered at the thoughts.
- Tears rolled down my cheeks and I wiped them off with the palms of my hands, a pang of guilt crept inside me making my stomach churn.
- I crept out of his arm making sure not to make a sound closing the door quietly. I heaved a sigh dashing towards the hotel entrance to hail a cab.
- This guy would be the end of me if I choose to stay, I am a coward and a bitch. My Dad got killed and here I was having a one-night stand with a stranger who claimed to be my mate. I am overwhelmed by the whole situation, turning into a beast and now having a mate. I crossed my chest hailing a cab to get out of sight of the stranger.
- "Go back," A voice rang in my head and I rolled my eyes knowing who it was.
- "I told you to stick to our agreement, you fucking saw our mate but you freaking left him alone". Celene voiced inside my head growling.
- "I want to be with our mate, I want to have a wolf's run with our mate but---"She screamed out.
- "You fucking hold it there, did you know what I am going through because of your kind, I lost my Dad and you all fucking turned me into a beast with the inexplicable feelings with the stranger, I am fed up, just freaking leave me alone". I snapped at her with my eyes blazing fury.
- "We are one, I want our mates, go back to him now". Celene pleaded with me and I scoffed with tears glistening in my eyes.
- "These feelings aren't mine, I am feeling miserable and lost". Tears trickled down my face.
- The driver glanced at me from the rear mirror with a creased brow and a concerned look.
- "Ma'am, hope there's no problem". He asked concerned.
- "Not at all," I replied blinking away the tears that threatened to fall.
- "You have to go back, Ivory, we need his help, you can't control yourself right now. You won't be able to adjust to your new self". She explained.
- "I will be fine and get rid of you". I shot at her.
- "You won't be able to"
- "Just you wait, I will".
- "Suit yourself, you will regret this decision". She vowed to shut herself, I felt empty, hand urt, I couldn't find a word to describe it as it hit me hard.
- His alluring hazel orbs kept appearing in my head as I stared out through the window, I felt safe with him and couldn't bear to look at his face, is this how the mate feels? I asked no one, in particular breaking down.
- I cried out as the inexplicable feelings burst out of me, I choked out holding my neck crawling in the backseat as the driver called out to me stopping the car. My lungs tightened making it difficult to breathe as I gasped for air holding my neck. I threw my wallet at him dashing out and alighting from the cab coughing out intensely.
- I went to the kitchen gulping down a cup of water heaving slowly with tears trickling down my face reminiscing on my father's memories.
- Just then, I heard a knock at the door entrance, walking slouchily, and turning away contemplating to open the door walking back and forth pacing in the living room.
- Opening the door, I saw a tall and muscular man in my Dad's uniform and a man in mufti with hands at their back.
- “We seek the presence of Miss. Ivory Hunter”. The tall and built man in uniform with dark sunglasses on his eyes asked with a solemn expression.
- “Yes, what can I do for you”. I uttered with the utmost strength left in me, my heart pounding in my ribcage.
- “Are we allowed to enter, we meant no harm”. The man in uniform said again nodding at the man behind him in mufti.
- I opened the door wide going to the kitchen to get them a cup of water as they must be from my Dad's workplace, I bit my lips battling my eyelashes as I made my sit opposite them on the couch.
- “We are here to deliver bad news.”. The man in uniform said doing the talking yet again glancing at me under his sunglasses.
- “Your father, Ronald Hunter went missing yesterday night at the patrol and was discovered to be eaten by the wild beast in the forest this morning”. He divulged removing his sunglasses and staring at me with a pitied look.
- “No way, that can't be” I muttered under a low breath trembling, pretending not to know, my mind went numb as to why I was such a coward knowing my Dad died and got killed saving his disobedient daughter.
- The air stilled around me making it difficult to breathe, my head spinning losing consciousness but was held back by the man in Mufti who caught me before I fainted.
- He passed me the cup of water at the center table, shaking my head, and I fell onto the floor holding my chest, I felt a pang of guilt rising in my stomach, my gaze clouding making a sharp cry and screaming.
- So it wasn't a dream after all, silent sobs racked through my body glancing around non-space.
- “How, has his body been found?”. I choked out, the words left hanging in my throat probably knowing the answer to my questions.
- “We found a few of his belongings covered in blood, and he was devoured by the wild beast”. He explained glancing at me for my expressions.
- “Your attention might be needed later to collect his belongings and to conduct a befitting funeral for our comrade who died on duty”. The man in uniform stuttered out.
- “We offer our sincerest condolences”. They both said with their heads down, hands behind their back standing up to leave.
- I sobbed quietly clutching my chest at the horrible reality, I was left alone in this miserable world.
- My phone rang jolting me out of my thoughts.
- "Ivory, are you okay" My aunt voiced out from the other end.
- "I have been trying to reach you for a while, are you okay? where have you been?" She added panicking bombarding me with questions I have no answers to cause I am not fine with my miserable life which has turned into a rollercoaster.
- "Talk to me, please. I heard about the horrible news from the council, it's so disheartening, I will be there tomorrow". She said sobbing quietly.
- "I-I am fine" I stuttered choking out the words.
- "Please hold on, I will be there, I promised, stay strong for me". She promised amidst sobbing.
- I broke down ending the call, I knew I was stranded with no one left to care for me in this miserable world and was doomed.
