• Mike kept shouting to be let through, the receptionist, Samantha, who looked frightened, kept insisting that he should wait for permission, those were the orders she had received, the security guards were busy trying to contain the press at the entrance of the company and the workers were watching the whole scene, dismayed. How had all this got so out of control?
• Alex was leading me by the arm, weaving our way through the crowd, I could have sworn he was blowing smoke from his nose, he looked furious.
• For an instant, Mike turned and saw us coming through the crowd. His expression seemed to light up, as if the prey he was so eager for had arrived, and he unashamedly pointed at me, in front of everyone.
