• I held the hand of the innocent girl, who was pretending to be Hayden's mate. It was a risky plan, but at this point, I had no other choice. I needed to find my own mate, Lovette, to bring her home and I pray that by bringing the girl to Hayden and pretending she was his mate, I could trick him into sparing my life and letting us go.
• As we entered the castle gates, the guards looked at us warily but didn't stop them. I felt a knot in my stomach as we walked down the halls towards Hayden's throne room. I looked around the room with a frown. Hayden and his guards were the only ones in the room.
