Chapter 6 No Way Out
- I didn't let go until Rosalind's face turned red and she struggled to breathe.
- I looked at her, gasping for air, and sneered, "Next time, if you dare act arrogant in front of me again, you’ll regret it.”
- Fear filled Rosalind's eyes as she stared at me.
- Ignoring her, I turned coldly to Marius. "If you don't sign, I have ways to make you sign."
- Marius pulled his gaze away from Rosalind and fixed his cold eyes on me. “Dream on if you think you can kick me out. You think you have ways? I'd like to see what you can do to me."
- Of course, Marius didn’t believe I could touch him, not when I had nothing now.
- But I wouldn't have anything forever.
- I stared at him in silence before saying slowly, “If you don’t want to leave with nothing, then give me seven million.”
- That seven million was all the liquid assets of the company.
- If he didn’t want to walk away empty-handed, then he would have to bleed a little.
- As for the company and his daughter, I would take them back one by one.
- Marius’s eyes widened in shock. “Seven million? Estelle, you’re asking for too much!”
- I replied calmly, "If you don’t agree, we'll see each other in court. By then, you’ll lose more than just seven million.”
- I pointed to the video camera in the lawyer's hand, letting the threat show in my eyes.
- Marius's face darkened suddenly, his eyes flashing with a fierceness I had never seen before.
- I still had evidence that could destroy him in one move. I wasn’t going to walk away without getting what I wanted.
- After weighing the pros and cons, Marius finally said through gritted teeth, “Fine, I’ll give you seven million.”
- Before he could sign, I pressed my hand on the documents and turned slightly toward the lawyer. “Give Marius another set of documents.”
- The lawyer placed a new document in front of him. "Mr. Marius, this is the one concerning the seven million."
- Marius glared at me as if he wanted to tear me apart right there.
- I paid no attention to his anger, just looked at him coldly. “Sign it. Don’t waste everyone’s time.”
- Marius stared at me for a long moment before finally signing his name heavily on the document and the check.
- Satisfied, I put away the papers and the check, then turned to the lawyer. “Let’s go.”
- Marius watched my back as I left, his expression complicated. Thinking over what had just happened, he was deeply shaken.
- Once, I had been utterly devoted to him. Now, I stood before him, unyielding...
- Walking out of the company, I looked up at the heavy clouds in the sky and sighed: finally, I have come to the point of breaking up with Marius.
- But this was only the beginning. I would make Marius pay for everything he had done.
- One day, I would take back everything I had lost.
- After receiving the funds, I immediately contacted my parents' old connections and arranged meetings to discuss cooperation.
- I visited their company with high hopes, but to my surprise, the answers I received were almost all the same.
- "Estelle, my company already has partners for our recent projects, so there may not be an opportunity for cooperation this time."
- "Essie, Uncle doesn’t have any new projects right now, he’s busy, so…”
- “Uncle has a project, but there are no plans to start yet. It seems there’s no opportunity for us to work together for now.”
- Hearing it once or twice, I could believe it. But after hearing it so many times, I stopped believing.
- I smiled and asked, "Uncle Liu, to be honest, the other companies gave me similar answers. I’m young, but even I wonder, can this really be just a coincidence?”
- Uncle Liu's face changed slightly after hearing this. "Yeah, it can't be just a coincidence."
- After a pause, he said with meaning, “But Mr. Marius spoke to me about a deal yesterday, and I think he’s doing the same with the other companies.”
- “Estelle, it’s not that I don’t want to work with you, it’s just that in business, profit comes first.”
- Upon hearing this, I understood.
- So Marius had already told them not to work with me. Otherwise, it would mean going against Creations.
- I had taken his seven million, and now he was cutting off my way forward, leaving me with no options.
- Although cooperation was important to me, my problems with Marius shouldn’t drag others into it.
- I took a deep breath, forcing down the anger in my chest, and said calmly, “Uncle Liu, I understand your situation. I hope we can work together in the future.”
- I smiled in thanks and was about to leave.
- "Wait!"
- I stopped in my tracks, turned back in confusion, and asked, "What is it, Uncle Liu?"
- Uncle Liu looked hesitant, then after a few seconds, he stood up and walked slowly toward me. "Your parents..."
- I froze, the smile on my lips fading.
- Uncle Liu had been a close friend of my parents for many years, and his sudden mention of them made my chest tighten.
- I studied his expression, hesitated, then asked, “What about my parents?”
- Uncle Liu's eyes held a trace of restrained concern as he said slowly, “You know your parents and I were close friends for many years. I’ll just say it directly.”
- “To be honest, I’ve always had doubts about their deaths. I never felt it was just an accident.”
