Chapter 5 Counterattack

  • The company was still in its early stages, but I didn't have any suitable clothes, so I went to the mall early to shop.
  • The mall was bustling with people, and I moved between various stores.
  • Just as I was picking out clothes, a familiar yet distant figure caught my eye.
  • It was Rosalind, the woman who had once stood beside Marius.
  • She was dressed in gorgeous clothes, carrying a designer bag, and chatting with another woman.
  • I didn't want to run into her, so I turned to leave, but she had already spotted me.
  • A sly smile curved her lips. She whispered something to her companion, then walked straight toward me.
  • She reached out to block my path and said with a smile, "Well, well, Ms. Estelle. Fresh out of jail, and you still have money to shop here?”
  • I stopped in my tracks and looked at her coldly. "I have nothing to say to you. Move.”
  • But she didn’t budge. Instead, she smirked. “Mari dumped you, so you must be broke. Are you sleeping with men for money now?”
  • At her words, the woman beside her chuckled. “So this is the crazy woman you were talking about? She’s nothing compared to you! Haha!”
  • I gave them a cold glance and stepped to the side, but Rosalind moved again, blocking me.
  • Thinking that I was afraid of her, Rosalind grew even more smug. "You've been to prison, and you still want to dress up? Does your status now even deserve the clothes here?"
  • I had intended to have a fun day shopping at the mall, but it seemed impossible now.
  • I could put up with a few more insults, but if I held back any longer, I might really become a "soft persimmon" for anyone to squeeze.
  • I stared straight at Rosalind and said coldly, "It's not up to you to judge my status. You're just a homewrecker who meddles in other people's relationships. What right do you have to stand in front of me?"
  • "I used to hear that women who become mistresses have no shame. I didn’t believe it. But now that I see you, I do."
  • The woman beside her smiled awkwardly, quickly scanning Rosalind up and down.
  • Rosalind's face changed, her voice raised significantly after being provoked by me. "Stop talking nonsense!"
  • I smiled faintly and continued, "Whether I deserve these clothes here, that's not for you to decide. But as for you..."
  • I looked her up and down with open contempt. "Everything you have now, you owe it all to climbing into Marius's bed. Without him, you are nothing."
  • Her face turned pale with anger, but she didn’t dare make a scene. Through gritted teeth, she spat, "Estelle, you are nothing now. I’ll soon be Mari’s wife, the mistress of the Marius family! You’re just jealous of what I have!"
  • I let out a cold laugh. "Mistress? A woman who climbed her way up as a mistress, worthy of that title? The mistress of the family belongs to me, Estelle, and only me!"
  • Thinking that I still coveted Marius's wife status, Rosalind laughed disdainfully, "You? Dream on, you..."
  • I stepped forward, raised my hand, and slapped her hard.
  • She froze, clutching her face in disbelief. "You crazy woman! What are you doing?!"
  • I smirked. "You already called me a crazy woman, do I need a reason to hit you?"
  • I raised my hand again, meeting her eyes. "This slap is a warning for you. I don't care about being the mistress of his family, but I will definitely reclaim what is rightfully mine, and I will do it myself!"
  • Without another glance, I pushed past her and left.
  • Rosalind didn't dare to make a scene and could only watch me leave helplessly.
  • She covered her face, eyes full of anger, muttering under her breath, "Estelle, you dare hit me? I’ll make you regret it!"
  • I continued shopping at the mall, picked out a few suitable clothes, and returned home satisfied.
  • After putting everything away, I called the lawyer Lyra had recommended.
  • "Hello, I'm Estelle... I want a divorce."
  • Since I had realized the mistake in this disastrous marriage, it was time to end it as soon as possible.
  • Two hours later, I walked into Creations with the lawyer and the divorce agreement.
  • In the office, Rosalind was curled up in Marius’s arms, her eyes red with tears as she exaggerated, “Estelle suddenly got angry at me for no reason, accusing me of seducing you, being your mistress... and even pushed me."
  • "I just love you. Why would she say such things about me?"
  • Hearing this, Marius immediately put down the documents in his hand and comforted her gently, "Don't worry, I will definitely teach her a lesson. With me here, I won't let you be wronged.”
  • Rosalind leaned against him, a smug smile playing on her lips where he couldn't see. She sobbed. "I really didn't expect her to say so many hurtful things."
  • I pushed open the office door without warning and caught sight of the scene, a wave of disgust washing over me. The lawyer behind me stepped in, quickly looked away, and awkwardly adjusted his glasses.
  • Before long, we were seated facing each other on the sofa. I tossed the divorce agreement in front of Marius and said coldly, "Sign it."
  • Marius picked up the document, frowning at the bold words on it. “Estelle, what madness is this again! Believe me, I can have someone throw you out right now and give you a good beating!”
  • I looked at him calmly and said slowly, "I'm not crazy, I just see how disgusting you really are. As for beating me, I suggest you think twice. I brought a lawyer and a video camera today; everything is being recorded."
  • “You’re going to sign this divorce agreement, and you’re going to leave with nothing!”
  • No morals, no decency, no humanity, leaving him with nothing was already letting him off lightly. But the most important thing now was leaving him.
  • Marius slammed the divorce agreement on the table. “Leave with nothing?! Estelle, you’re dreaming. I’m not signing!”
  • Rosalind leaned against the armrest of the sofa, sneering from the side. “You, a woman who just got out of prison, where do you get the courage to make demands? Asking Mari to leave with nothing? What a joke!”
  • I looked up, a cold glint in my eyes. I stood and strode toward Rosalind, my hand closing around her pale neck.
  • Her eyes went wide in shock before she began clawing at my hands in panic.
  • Marius shot to his feet, shouting, “Estelle, have you lost your mind?! Let her go!”
  • Seeing the urgency on his face, I let out a mocking smile. “Oh, you’re really protecting her, huh?”
