Chapter 35
- I pushed open the restaurant door, the chatter and clinking of cutlery washing over me. The place was packed. My heart pounded as I scanned the crowd for Archer. It took a moment, but then I spotted him, weaving through tables with a tray of drinks balanced on one hand.
- I slipped the cap Lupus gave me lower on my head, praying it would help me blend in. The last thing I needed was someone recognizing me. I watched as Archer finished serving a family, my nerves tightening with every step he took away from me. Finally, I mustered the courage to approach him.
- “Archer, can we talk?” My voice trembled, barely above a whisper. He didn’t even glance at me, continuing to move through the tables like I was invisible. Did he not recognize me?
