Chapter 16
- When my alarm goes off the next morning, I roll over in bed, silencing my phone and sighing deeply. I open my eyes, and it takes me a few seconds to remember where I am. Asher’s guest bedroom. I stretch, remembering the rest of our evening last night. We’d eaten Indian food on the couch in his living room and watched reruns of old comedy shows. It has been so … relaxing. For the first time since the whole fiasco with my stalker, my mind was completely clear.
- I reach for my phone and open the email app, scrolling through a few things. My heart quickens when I see an email from the estate lawyer. I open it and sit up straight in bed.
- “No. No, no, no,” I mutter, dialing his number and waiting for him to answer. When he finally does, I say, “It’s Olivia Reilly. I just got your email. What do you mean there’s no more time left?”
