Chapter 14

• The next day, when I notice the new deposit amount in my checking account, my mouth drops open. I guess he truly wasn’t joking when he’d said he’d pay me double what the club was. I text my boss at the club to tell her I won’t be coming in anymore, and she doesn’t put up much of a fight. I imagine it’s the type of establishment that has a lot of turnover anyway. I also tell her about what happened in the parking lot. She’s horrified and says she’ll look into it.
• Then I text Courtney, telling her I quit and that we should meet up soon for drinks. I need to tell her what happened and warn her about the possibility of it happening to her too. Maybe she and the other girls should just make sure they always walk to their cars together.
• I try to focus on work, but I can’t stop my mind wandering back to Asher and everything we did yesterday. How he’d laid me out on his desk and fucked my brains out.
