Chapter 4 – Home Invasion
- Celine
- Rebuilding your life isn’t an easy job, but time flies by fast when you have a lot to do. In the blink of an eye, another month had passed. I am still without a new friend, too focused on work and the devil’s basic needs. Which had become top priority for me.
- For example, today the devil is in a bad mood. When he saw me laughing with Andrew, he snapped. And now, I’m alone in the gym, cleaning the floor. As always, I was not allowed to leave until everything was spotless.
- By the time I was done, it was dark. Not surprising there, so I made my way upstairs to grab my things. But I paused when I saw the lights were on in the devil office. I never knew he would stay up this late in the office. Curious, I went to check on him to see if he needed anything before leaving. The office is empty, so I assumed he had forgotten to turn off the light.
- As a good employee should, I turned off the light and began making my way to the door. But clumsy me had to make life miserable by bumping into the desk, tripping over my own skirt. I fell face first, sending my glasses in the opposite direction.
- “Ow.” I groaned, coming to a sitting position. “Thank God, I’m alone. If anyone saw me, I will never be able to live it down.” I tutted, crawling over to where I assumed my glasses had flew off to.
- Wondering aimlessly on all four, trying to find my glasses is harder than it seems in the darkness. With my 20/20 vision I’m basically blindly searching for a needle in a haystack. It wasn’t until the light turned on that I saw it by the corner.
- “Aha! Found it…” wait a minute, the light turned on.
- “Cherries? Really?” The devil sounded.
- Cherries? I suddenly felt the cold air brushing my thigh and curse myself to death. My skirt is hick up and my ass is in plain sight. I got up and tried to explain myself.
- “I, I, I…” the freaking stuttering makes it impossible.
- “Ah, I get it.” The devil sauntered over, menacingly.
- I couldn’t do anything but back away as he approached. I found myself corner between him and the giant French window. I tried shifting to left but he blocks it with his arms. I tried escaping from the right, but he caged me in completely.
- For the first time, I felt primal fear. There is something in his eye that sent a chill down my spine. Something that screamed he hates me. I was afraid not of death but of his hatred. His eyes are the exact replica of Allen Stride. It’s terrifying, so I shrunk away.
- “Are you waiting for me?” The devil whispered.
- I shook my head no, avoiding eye contact. The hatred is so thick that instinct kicks in. I slipped under and booked it to the door, but I couldn’t make it. He is tall, fast, and strong. He grabbed me from behind and pinned me to the wall, like I’m his prey.
- “Where are you going? You haven’t got what you came for.” The devil whispered into my ears.
- “I, I, I, w-w-wan-ted n-n-n-noth-ing.” I stuttered.
- “Women are all the same. Lies, trickery, vulnerable, corrupted, money hungry.” The devil spoke.
- “Wah…?” I’m confused, when did I…
- He forced me to face him and then kissed me. I was stunned locked, unable to comprehend what the hell was going on.
- “You wanted it. I will give it to you.” The devil said and began tearing my clothes off.
- The rip and tore gave me the strength to push him off and slap him. I bolted for the door but I didn’t make it. The devil caught me and forced himself on me. Afraid for my life, I screamed and kicked him off, grabbing anything I could as a weapon. The man looked like a deranged psychopath as he stared me down.
- “Not another step or else I won’t hold back.” I threatened, with the scissors in my hand.
- “Isn’t this what you wanted. A night with me and you will get whatever you want - cars, villa, boat, airplane, or a massive raise with triple bonus each year. I can get you anything you want.” The devil offered.
- “I would rather die, then become your Barbie doll. I don’t care what you’ve seen in the past, but don’t use those standard to put a tag me. We are done here. If you followed, I would call the cop.” I said and ran home in tears.
- For a second, I thought he was a good man. He may not talk much, scary sometime but I’ve never imagined him to be so terrifying. Mom was wrong. I was wrong.
- Three days after.
- I woke up this morning to knock and shout at my door. Sound familiar, but I ignored it. For the past three days, things have been peaceful. No work, no problems, no worries. Just peace and quiet. As I was in the verge of losing consciousness, my phone rang.
- Annoyed but the disturbance, I picked up and shouts, “if you have any grievance, send your prayer at the temple. I will get back to you when I have the time.” Then I shut off my phone.
- Everything became completely silent after that. Peace and quiet, perfect for the heavenly bliss of sleeping in…*BANG! BANG! *
- “This is the FBI, open up!” An angry voice reached my ears.
- FBI! Fuck, I rushed for the door as fast as I could. Who would expect the FBI to be at their fucking door so early in the mor – I froze.
- It’s not the FBI, but one man and his devilish smirked. One that would put me on my knees if I wasn’t so stunned lock. I closed the door and went into an episode trying to figure out what the bloody hell is going on? Why the fuck is the devil at my door?
- Wait… he lied to me! And he – furious, I got a knife to greeted him with.
- He responded with hands raised, “calm down, I just wanted to apologize about that night.”
- “Say your prayer and leave.” I replied.
- “Can I come in?” The devil asked.
- I snorted, “no.” And I closed the door on him.
- He persisted and knocked on the door. Pissed off, I open the door ready to give him the stabbing of his life. But God never allows thing to go my way. The moment I opened the door, he grabbed my arms and swiftly disarmed me. Not only did he take the knife away, but also successfully forced his way into my home.
- “Rule number one, never turn your back on your opponent. Rule number two, never let your opponent turn your weapon against you. You broke both of these rules in 5 minutes. You are incapable of stabbing me.” The devil chimed.
- “Get out of my house or else I’m calling the police.” I threatened.
- “First of all, I’m sorry about what I did to you. I made a mistake so I’m here to apologize.” The devil said.
- I snorted, “A mistake! You were not drunk, not high but you almost rape me. That’s a mistake! Unbelievable!”
- “Look, I’ve been through some stuff and you just…” he paused, longer then he should have.
- According to mom, this is something he doesn’t want to talk about.
- “Mistake my ass, but if you are here to apologized, then you have. Now leave.” I demanded.
- “Wait, I have one more thing. Come back to the company, I will double you pay and double the bonus.” The devil offered.
- “After what happened? No amount of money is worth tolerating a person like you.” I spoke fearless at this point.
- “Look it an honest mistake. I’m sorry, it will never happened again.”
- “NO.” I replied.
- “How can I make it up to you?” The devil asked.
- “Nothing, now leave me alone.” I tutted.
- “Please the company need you.” The devil begged.
- “Mr. Anderson, aren’t you overreacting? The company is not going to go bankrupt without me.” I replied.
- “No, it is not, but I needed a talented woman like you. You’re the first woman in years that doesn’t approached me for money. You are one of the rare species of human.” The devil tries to flatter me.
- It ain’t working, “Oh, is that supposed to make me happy?”
- “Maybe.” He responded.
- “Bullshit! Get off my property or I’m reporting you for home invasion.” I threatened.
- “Ok, fine. How can I make it up to you?”
- “I said no.” I replied.
- “Double pay.” The devil offered.
- “Decline.” I replied.
- “Triple pay?” The devil offered.
- “No.” I replied.
- “Quadruple pay. Final offer.” The devil offered.
- “Mr. Anderson, money doesn’t give back the feeling that been destroyed. Money doesn’t give back my dignity that you crushed because of your simple mistake. Please just leave me alone.” I responded.
- “Fine. I’m sorry.” He walks out, but before I shut the door completely, “I will be back tomorrow.” He said and disappeared.
- “What the fuck?”
