Chapter 14 Cheater

  • “I’m glad that you’re here. You don’t have to bring a gift!” Ruth exchanged pleasantries before receiving the gift. “You’re my guests, so Sally should come and say hello. Let me go get her.”
  • After Ruth left, Claude urged anxiously, “Nat, today’s her birthday. There are many guests here. We should grab a seat instead of asking her to come personally.”
  • Claude hadn’t talked to Sally since he left and slammed the door after him. Even after Sally got his number using her connections and spammed his phone with calls, he refused to accept her calls and got himself another new assistant.
  • When Natalie suddenly changed her attitude and brought him along to Sally’s birthday party, he felt uneasy.
  • Something told him Natalie was scheming something.
  • “I just want to say hello to her.” Natalie’s finger trailed up his arm seductively. “Claude, are you afraid?”
  • Her voice turned upset. “You told me you’ve broken up with her and wanted to get back together with me. Were you lying to me? Do you still love her?”
  • Claude might’ve been an actor for the past few years, but Natalie could pass off as an actress after being Sebastian’s lover for over a year. After all, she had always put on an act in front of him.
  • As Natalie was whining adorably to him like what she used to do in the past, Claude’s heart softened. He took her hand and assured her, “Nat, trust me. It’s over between Sally and me. I can do anything as long as you agree to get back together with me.”
  • Deep down, Natalie was sneering silently. However, she didn’t let it show on her face as she nodded obediently. “I came here to flaunt our relationship to her. That’s all.”
  • At her explanation, Claude relaxed visibly.
  • So Nat came here to flaunt on purpose because she was mad at Sally for taking me away from her.
  • I shouldn’t have thought badly of her. She’s still my Nat.
  • “You should’ve told me earlier.” Claude glanced around. When no one was around, he leaned down and gave her a hasty peck. “After the party, let’s go eat something nice,” he comforted her in a low voice.
  • As he was too swift, Natalie couldn’t avoid his advances in time. She froze when his lips landed on hers.
  • Claude might be a popular hunk, but all she wanted to do now was to scrape off the piece of skin where his lips touched hers!
  • Alas, this intimate scene was caught by Sebastian, who had just entered the garden.
  • Even Kirk saw it. He recognized Claude and blurted out in surprise, “Wow, she’s swift. I saw her arguing with Mr. Nealey in the dressing room. Her outfit was torn in the argument, but now—”
  • “Her outfit was torn?” Sebastian cut his assistant off abruptly before giving him a glare. “Why didn’t you include this in your previous report?”
  • Kirk felt a chill traveling down his spine. He lowered his head and coughed awkwardly. “I wasn’t sure how Ms. Cook’s outfit got torn, so I dared not report it to you in case it was a misunderstanding.”
  • When Ms. Cook was arguing with Claude in the dressing room, she was still Boss’ lover, right?
  • Was she cheating on him?
  • Kirk couldn’t help but think. Ms. Cook, how heartless of you! Mr. Hoffman gave her an expensive sports car as a breakup gift, but she was already busy finding her next lover—an award-winning actor! Wow!
  • After a while, Kirk glanced at Natalie before speaking up. “Mr. Hoffman, Mrs. Harper is bringing Ms. Harper around to greet the guests. Should we go greet her, too?”
  • “After she wraps up her conversation,” Sebastian responded coolly as he strolled casually across the lawn.
  • Kirk caught up to him.
  • Sally’s expression was dark while she stood beside her mother silently. She wasn’t in the mood for her birthday party at all. Her heart was still distressed after Claude hung up on her.
  • After finding out she was pregnant, she dared not tell anyone and pretended everything was fine. She’d be in deep trouble if her father found out about her pregnancy.
  • If Daddy finds out I got pregnant before getting married, he might kill me.
