• The cold rain slashed against my face like razor blades, but I didn't slow down. Every time the heavy Ducati hit a bump on the desolate, winding mountain road, a fresh wave of white-hot agony flared across my back, tearing at the deep stab wounds where Roxanne had driven the quill pen. Blood soaked through my shirt, sticking the dark fabric to my skin, hot and heavy. My vision blurred for a split second from the pain and blood loss, but I gritted my teeth so hard my jaw felt like it was going to shatter. Pain is irrelevant.
