Chapter 6 Ivy's Wrath
- Mrs Karen's words made me feel so empty, hollow and shattered into a million pieces. The thought of never holding my baby in my arms, never seeing their smile, never hearing their laughter... it's almost too much to bear.
- "You can't be serious, Doc!" I exclaimed. "No, my child is still here with me" I protested, forcing myself to believe it was all a lie, but Mrs Karen's expression said it all- I indeed lost my son!
- I had thought that this baby would open a new chapter in my relationship with Lysander but it failed when he gave me those papers to sign. I signed them with the hope that I have someone to wipe my tears when Lysander is not around but that glimpse of hope is gone and it is all because of one person- Lysander Steel!
- I seized the tears flowing down my cheeks, clenching my fists as I remembered when I told Lysander that I was pregnant with his child! I even explained to him the danger of transfusing my blood to Cameil but he was persistent with his decision, and now I lost my child!
- He is the root cause of everything which happened to me! My baby, my fertility, my family, I lost them all because of Lysander! I've taken enough of all their abuses, it is time to end it all!
- I stood up from the ward bed, holding my aching belly as I intended to leave the room.
- "Where are you going, Mrs Steel?" Mrs Karen inquired, approaching to touch me but I pushed her hand away with so much rage.
- My face was strictly expressed as I shone my eyes at Mrs Karen who just annoyed me with her words.
- "I'll let this slide today but the next time you address me by the name 'Mrs Steel', I will make sure you lose your job!" I warned, my fingers pointing directly to her face.
- I turned front, not minding the amazing looks on Mrs Karen's face. She must have wondered why I sounded so vengeful, not knowing that I was no longer the Ivy she used to know. I am no longer Mrs Steel, I am Ivy... only Ivy.
- ********
- I headed straight to the Steel's mansion with one intent which is to pack my luggage and get the hell out of their lives.
- Immediately I opened the door, someone slapped me! I looked up to see who had slapped me, while still holding the side of my cheek which was slapped.
- Gracias Steel, Lysander's Mom, stood confidently before me with widened eyes and clenched fists.
- "How dare you stab Cameil? You couldn't afford to bear my son a child and the woman who was ready to do so is lying on the sick bed all because of you" She added, her fingers pointing to my face.
- I am not surprised by the fact that Gracias Steel is siding with Cameil because right from time, Cameil was her favourite. She never liked me and was the number one obstruction in my marriage with Lysander.
- Ignoring her, I made my way to walk out but she grabbed my hand and pulled my back "How dare you walk out on me? When did that start?" She inquired, her voice echoing in rage
- I pushed her hands off my grip, sounding so rude, I responded "I would love you to know that we are no longer on the same level! This is not the Ivy you used to know. Don't let me show you my cruel part!"
- "The effrontery..." She said, her face filled with surprise, she raised her hand to slap me but I clutched it tightly!
- She shone her eyes in disbelief, this is not the Ivy that always accorded her so much respect!
- "Go and ask your son the necessary questions, it is over between us. I don't expect you to continue treating me like trash!" I said, my voice rude and concise, while still holding her hand so tight.
- "Ivy!" A voice called out from the exit door, it was Lysander. He clenched his fists as he walked close to us, his eyes shining and body vibrating.
- Seeing his face was the last in my mind because he irritates me. I left his Mom and walked away, straight to my room.
- "Ivy, wait right there! I said to wait..." Lysander yelled while walking after me, but I ignored him until I got to my room where I started packing my luggage.
- Getting to where I was, Lysander took the clothes I was packing and flung them to the bed. "Where did you get your audacity from? For the first time in three years, you raised your voice on my Mom and disobeyed me. Don't forget that I make the rules and you obey them!"
- Lysander said, his voice filled with rage but I ignored him and continued packing my clothes.
- "Didn't you hear me, Ivy? What do you think you're doing, huh?" His voice echoed, interrupting my action.
- "I am packing my items, Lysander! I can't live under the same roof as a murderer who killed his own son! Besides, we are already divorced!" I responded, my voice attempting to break, but I controlled my emotions.
- Lysander scoffs and walks close to me, not even moved by my words.
- "Yes, we are DIVORCED, Ivy and you ought to leave this house..."
- "As you can see, I am preparing to leave!" I cut him off, trying to avoid close contact with him but he dragged the clothes from my hand, saying "That is not what I meant..."
- "If you were to leave this house, you are free to leave but with nothing!" Lysander added. I smiled, closing the wardrobe. Lysander is correct, I never bought any item for myself in this marriage. Everything I had, he owned them.
- If he wants me to leave with nothing, I will gladly do so. I closed the wardrobe, endeavouring to walk out with nothing when Lysander clutched my right hand. Our eyes hit, but he eventually took his gaze to my left hand where I held my phone.
- "I bought that handset in your hand! You're not gonna leave with that..." Lysander said, his tone persistent with rage.
- "You can have them...."
- Lysander collected the phone from my hand and threw it to the floor with so much gravity. I sighted the phone crawling into a broken screen but swallowed my spit, pretending like I don't give a damn.
- I turned to leave, but Lysander's hand shot out, grasping my arm. I tried to shake him off, but he held tight. His eyes blazed with anger, and I searched his face for any glimmer of empathy. But all I saw was hatred, cold and hard.
- "What now, Lysander?" I inquired, my voice laced with a mix of frustration and exhaustion. Lysander walked a bit closer, making me take some steps back.
- "When I married you, you had nothing! So now that we are Divorced, you will leave with nothing! And that includes your clothes and panties! You're gonna leave this house naked, Ivy!"
- I shook my head slowly, my hands clenched tightly to my palm. I can't believe that this is the same man I fell in love with!
- "Do you expect me to walk in the street naked?" I Inquired, my voice beginning to break into emotions as I refused to take my eyes off his cruel eyes.
- "I don't expect you to walk out in the street naked, I want you to walk around the world naked! I don't love you, Ivy, so don't expect an empathy from me!" He responded with so much disrespect.
- I knew Lysander would never change his mind, so I did as he said.
- I swallowed some spits before pulling off my clothes, leaving me with only my underwear. I looked at Lysander one last time, my emotions piling up with guilt and anger.
- No symptom of STOP from him, I'll have to do this...
- I pulled my bra and threw it on the bed, leaving my breast exposed. As I stood there, feeling vulnerable and humiliated, I was lost in so many emotions that tears dropped from my eyes.
- Alas, I pulled my panties and dropped them on the bed. I covered my breasts and sniffed, controlling my tears, I managed to look at Lysander one last time "Mark today's date, the 24th of November. On this day, I, Ivy Moore promise you that you will regret everything that happened today!"
- Lysander's expression suddenly changed, and for a moment, I saw a flicker of something like regret in his eyes. But it was quickly replaced by his usual cold, hard mask.
- I ran out of the room, the cool air conditioning hitting my bare skin like a slap. I felt humiliated and angry, my eyes stinging with unshed tears.
- "Ivy!" I could hear Lysander calling my name but I ignored him and continued running until I got out of the mansion.
- As I walked out, I noticed a sleek G-WAGON 2024 Boat-tail parked by the entrance. The driver, a tall, handsome man with a newly shaved beard, caught my eye as he stepped out of the car. He nodded at me, his eyes narrowing at the corners, and approached me with confidence.
- He pulled his suit jacket and covered my body.
- "Let's go, my QUEEN!"
