• It was a good thing Ethan was finally discharged from the hospital. There had been nothing wrong with him in the first place, but I had wanted him to stay there a little longer — far away from his endless work at the office. Ethan worked like a machine, and even in his rare moments of free time, he insisted on joining me in investigating Old Mrs. Mehra’s death. The fire incident had given me the perfect excuse to keep him in the hospital a while more, free from office duties.
• Tonight was supposed to be Mrs. Mehra’s welcome-back party. According to the email I’d received, I was invited to take my position as CEO of WASTON Group. But I wasn’t ready to claim that role yet. So, I’d simply attend the event as Ivy Moore — assistant to the unknown CEO of WASTON Group.
