Chapter 3 Reborn

  • My heart was dead, my breathing was getting weaker, and my vision was getting blurry. At that moment, I could clearly feel the child in my belly disappear, forever! I can even hear his last cry, sad, mournful and painful.
  • The darkness soon enveloped me, as if I had fallen into a bottomless pit. There is nothing under my feet. I just keep falling down. It's cold, it's dark! It's hopeless!
  • No, God! I don't want to die like this! I shouted with all my strength, even if I couldn't make any sound, but I was still trying to shout from the bottom of my heart.
  • God, help me! It's not fair! I've never done anything wrong in my life. I've never hurt anyone. Why? Why do I have to suffer such injustice? Why could these bastards enjoy all of this?
  • Why can my sister take everything away from me, but I have to go to endless hell! Why does my unborn child have to die like this?
  • However, no one could hear me, and I felt I was getting weaker and weaker. All the memories began to be pulled away violently from my mind, and I gradually forgot everything in my previous life, even my name. In the void, I will become a wisp of white smoke.
  • God, please! Please don't let me disappear like this!
  • "I do not want to die like this! I pray for you. Please do not end my life!" I cried and begged.
  • "There is a law to everything in the world. My girl, your life shouldn't have ended this way. I can help you."
  • God is willing to give me a second chance, right?
  • “Revenge! Revenge!” I roared.
  • "Now go back, back to where you belong!" The voice went farther and farther away and soon disappeared into the abyss.
  • I felt a cold needle thrust into my body.
  • My body no longer feels pain. All the pieces of memory that I had just forgotten now slowly came back to me.
  • When I regained consciousness, I found myself lying on a soft bed. I looked around. This was my room. Nothing had changed. Is this heaven or earth? I can't even tell.
  • Is God hear my cry? Is she willing to give me a chance to rise? I can't believe it. I sat up and looked at the picture on the dresser. That's me and my husband, Ron, on our wedding day!
  • In the picture, I'm leaning on Ron in my white wedding dress, and we're so happy. But now when I see this picture again, I just feel sick and want to tear it up immediately!
  • I looked around my room. The carpet was gray, and a painting of a sunrise over the sea hung on the white wall. All I could see in the room was the same as when I was in my previous life.
  • To make sure it wasn't a dream, I decided to touch every object in the room with my fingers. It is said that ghosts cannot touch real objects in the world, yet I can easily pick up every object I see.
  • Maybe it wasn't a dream!
  • I am reborn!
  • At this time, the door was opened. When I looked up, I saw my husband, Ron! He was wearing a black suit and tie. He looked at me unhappily.
  • "Why aren't you dressed?"
  • I didn't know what to do. I stared at him, stunned. As if he were a stranger! My heart was shocked, twisted, and finally turned to rage!
  • This is the man who betrayed our marriage! And now he's standing right in front of me!
  • "Are you listening to me, Eva?" Ron came up to me and pointed to my clothes. "The doctor said you had recovered. Do you want to go to a funeral in your pajamas? It’s your best friend's husband's funeral. Are you sure you want to do that?"
  • "What?" My ears finally picked up his voice. "Whose funeral?"
  • "Jeff's funeral! He's dead!" Ron purposely raised his voice as he picked out a random black dress from my closet and tossed it on the bed.
  • "You have three minutes to change!"
  • Ron stormed out of the room and shut the door. I was still frozen in place and did not react. I need a few minutes to get my head around it. I died and came back to life. I went back to the day before I died, but as far as I could remember, Jeff hadn't died in my last life, and I hadn't been to his funeral.
  • So which day did I go back to?
  • To confirm this important information, I quickly rummaged through my bag for my phone, which showed the current time. The last time I remember is July 14,2020, the seventh anniversary of my wedding to Ron.
  • Luckily, my phone was still in my bag, so I couldn't wait to read the calendar. It was July 7, 2020, the week before my wedding anniversary.
  • No, it's not true! I'm pretty sure I don't remember this experience at all in my previous life. I was confused, and my heart was filled with doubts! Is God joking with me?
  • Ron knocked on the door hurriedly and rudely. His voice came through the crack in the door. "Are you ready? The car is ready to go!"
  • I looked at the black dress on the bed and looked in the direction of the door. I could see Ron standing impatiently outside the door.
  • As I pushed the door open, Ron grabbed my wrist and pulled me down the stairs. His hands were filled with strength and heat. As I sat with him in the car, next to his body, I could smell the faint scent of tobacco mixed with mint. I could even hear his heartbeat.
  • I rolled down the window and let the sun cover the palm of my hand. The golden sun was warm. The whistling wind was cool. Every tree and grass along the road was full of life.
  • We came to the funeral. I saw every familiar face. The ones I liked and the ones I hated, and they were all mixed up in the crowd. The men were dressed in black and wore black ties, and their faces were gloomy. The women wore black dresses, hats with black gauze covering their heads, and light makeup on their faces.
  • Each of them greeted me respectfully, calling me Mrs. Moore as they had done before. I used to think of these people as my friends, but why did they disappear after I went to prison? Not even a single person will help me! None!
  • I let go of Ron's hand and wandered through the crowd, slowly and at a loss. I smelled each person, and felt their temperature and smell —— smelly, pungent, hot or cold!
  • Their voices lingered in my ears, and my brain automatically blocked what they were saying. These sounds run through my eardrums like water, but they are real!
  • I walked to the corner of the graveyard and took a deep breath. Looking back at the people in black! Now I know for sure, I'm back! I'm alive! I died after I was betrayed, but now I'm back.
