• I stared at the woman in the mirror. She wasn’t the same woman who was forced into marrying a stranger two years ago. Back then, I looked so broken—like the world had come crashing down on me. I was miserable.
• I still remember what my cousin Evany told me—that I always had the choice to say no. If I had gone against my parents and refused to marry Niu, I probably would’ve never met Sebastian. After all, he was based in the U.S. at the time. So in a strange way, I’m thankful for that marriage. Because it led me to him.
