Chapter 18 The Sports Car Beauty

  • Ben felt that something was fishy, but he still accepted Tilly's hand and shook it. He could not believe this. Anyone would dream of talking to such a beautiful girl like Tilly. But she came up to him voluntarily even though he did nothing. How could this be possible? It was not logical at all.
  • "Give me your phone number. I want to add you." Tilly took out her phone.
  • Ben stared at Tilly. He kept wondering about the real reason behind Tilly's interest in him. At the same time, he gave Tilly his phone number.
  • When the dishes they ordered arrived, Tilly ate them slowly in small bites. Even the way she chewed her food was so pretty.
  • "Mmm. Yummy. I have never eaten such delicious food in my life."
  • "Are you sure? It is indeed not bad, but you are exaggerating too much."
  • "I'm speaking the truth. I always have plain food at home. My family is extremely health conscious, so the food made from home does not have any seasoning. I did not expect street food to taste so good." Tilly spoke solemnly.
  • At this moment, Tilly's phone rang. She took out her phone and frowned when she saw the screen.
  • "Hello, mom."
  • "Alright, alright. I'm outside eating with my friend now. Okay, okay, I will go back. I will go back in a while. How would it be dangerous? Ah... Okay… Okay… Okay…" Tilly said impatiently.
  • "Is that your mom? Telling you to go home?" Ben asked as he ate.
  • "Yeah. I'm always a kid to her. She worries about me always. She thinks that I will be in danger whenever I go out."
  • "Every child will always be a child in their parent's eyes. But it is indeed late now. You should go home early. Don't let your mom worry about you. Thank you so much for today."
  • "Alright then. I shall go home first. Then… Then I will come back again tomorrow night to help you collect payments. You start at six in the evening, don't you? Then I will come at six." Tilly stood up and spoke to Ben.
  • Ben widened his eyes as he looked at Tilly. "Are you still coming tomorrow?"
  • "What's the matter? Do you not wish to see me?" Tilly pouted.
  • "No. I don't mean that. It's just that… You… Do you like skewers that much? I didn't see you eating that much anyway."
  • "I'm coming to help you. It's tough for you to handle everything alone."
  • "You don't have to help me. I'm already grateful enough for today. But I can't ask for your help every day. There really isn't any need for you to come to help." Ben quickly explained.
  • Tilly rolled her eyes and looked at Ben. "Then… Can I work for you?"
  • "What do you mean?"
  • "I'll come and help you collect payment. Then you can pay me wages. Don't worry. I don't need a lot. You can just give me… five hundred a month."
  • "Five hundred?" Ben gaped.
  • "Is that too much to ask for? Well… Three hundred, then." Tilly thought for a while and answered.
  • "Three hundred? Are you kidding me? Don't you have a job? Do you have time to do this?"
  • "I… Don't have a job. Didn't I tell you just now? I'm a student. I have nothing to do at night. Moreover, my family is not well off. If you'd give me a chance, I will work hard here. Please let me earn some living expenses. If not… I wouldn't have enough money to pay off my living expenses." Tilly's pupils darted around as she spoke.
  • "Girl, if you wanted to lie, you should've done a better job at it. Is your family not well-off? If I'm not mistaken, your clothes are from Chanel. Am I right? Your pants are from LV, and your shoes are from Gucci. This bag that you are carrying is a Hermes. I don't know how much these costs, but I know they are expensive. Your phone is the new iPhone too. It must cost a few thousand at the very least, right? Are you sure you're not from a well-off family? If your family is not well-off, what about mine? I wouldn't dare to live in this world anymore. It would be shameful for me to be alive." Ben almost choked out his rice when he heard Tilly say she wasn't from a well-off family.
  • "These… are all fakes. They are high-grade imitations. I bought them online. They are cheap, costing tens to twenties per piece. How would a student like me be able to afford these?" Tilly blushed and hurriedly explained herself.
  • "Fake? They don't look fake at all."
  • "If they can be spotted so easily, I wouldn't dare wear or bring them out. People would laugh at me then."
  • "You're right too. Perhaps it's because you are beautiful that fakes look genuine on you." Ben could not help but sigh. Then he continued, "But even if these were fake… Your phone must be real. Don't tell me that it is fake too. I will never believe that."
  • "This… This is… A gift from my ex-boyfriend. Yes. My ex-boyfriend gave it to me."
  • "What?"
  • "I… My ex-boyfriend gave it to me for my birthday. He is from a rich family. But… We broke up. I still keep the phone."
  • "Is that even possible?" Ben widened his eyes.
  • "Yeah. So it's a deal, then. I will work for you from tomorrow onwards from six every day till… one in the morning daily. It will be three hundred a month. That's a deal, alright. I have to go now." Tilly turned around and ran off as soon as she finished speaking. She was afraid that Ben would refuse her again, so she did not want to give him any chance to do so. She patted her chest as she ran. She took a deep breath of relief and murmured under her breath, "Phew, I narrowly dodged a bullet. I think I'll have to get some cheaper clothes tomorrow morning. I can't wear these anymore."
  • "Hey… Hey… Are you kidding me? Three hundred?" Ben quickly shouted out to Tilly, but she had disappeared from his sight.
  • "What's with me today? Am I attractive to the extent that beautiful girls would come up to me voluntarily?" Ben had a strong urge to look at himself in the mirror.
  • Tilly ran away so fast without a trace at all. She took out her car key upon reaching the corner of the street. When she pressed the remote, the lights of a pink Ferrari beside her lit up. Tilly went over, opened the door, and sat inside it.
  • If Ben had witnessed this scene, his jaw would have dropped in shock.
  • Ben finished supper alone. He had always closed the stall alone and cooked instant noodles when he reached home at two in the morning. But today, thanks to Tilly, his supper was sumptuous. He was so full that his stomach almost burst. He got up and paid the bill, then pushed his tricycle back. It was not even twelve yet.
  • When he reached home and counted the money he had from today's business, he discovered that he had earned more than usual even though he had closed the stall two hours earlier than usual. This made Ben realize that it was necessary to hire someone to collect payment for him.
