Chapter 7 Mistaken Belief
- "You have a gift package right on your table ma'am" My new secretary, Lena said, handing me a file comprising the summary of my schedule today. She always made my work easy and I don't ever regret making her my secretary.
- "Who's it from?" Pushing the general office door, I asked. Antonio wasn't in the office today. That was weird considering the fact that he was always here early.
- "It said Mr. R" Lena answered.
- Mr. R? Was that his new identity now?
- Oh Gerald.
- "Thank you. Please do not let anyone into my office until 4 PM because I would love to accomplish something good today" I nodded at her, shutting my door behind me I said a quick prayer in my heart before starting my day. Smiling at the small pack laying beautifully on my table, I leaned forward to pick the card.
- "Keep looking beautiful. Mr. R" Laughing out softly after reading it, I unwrapped the pack.
- I was so certain this package was coming from Gerald because he's the only one I know with such sweet mouth.
- "Parfait!" I cheered, picking up the cup of parfait. "Ouuu, he still knows my favorite"
- Opening it, I made a mental note to call him and thank him for this and also tell him how it made my day.
- "Mmm" I threw my head back moaning to the feeling I got when the yogurt melted on my tongue giving me that sour sweet taste I love. "This is so good"
- "Is it?" A male voice replied cockily, making me open my eyes I didn't even know was closed.
- "Yeah, it is." I smiled, licking my lips just in case there was something on my lips. I didn't want him to use any opportunity to touch me.
- I've watched a lot of drama to know those tactics.
- "I didn't think you would still like it" Antonio shrugged "How would you know?" I scoffed. "My husband got this though. I'd love to share but I don't think he'd like that"
- His smirk turned into a full blown smile as he looked at me. As if that wasn't enough, he burst into fits of laughter.
- What?
- Did I say anything funny?
- Oh my goodness! Is something on my face?
- I raised my hand to touch my face gently. Should I just ask him?
- My phone.
- "There's nothing on your face, Amoré" He said, his laugh dying down.
- "I don't believe you" Picking up my phone, I clicked on camera, checking out my face. He wasn't lying.
- "Believe me now?" He raised his eyebrow at me.
- "What could've possibly made you laugh then" I frowned, slowly bringing the spoon of parfait to my mouth.
- "I'll tell you when you're done having fun with what your husband bought for you" He winked, dragging a seat to himself.
- The way he said it made me look at the thing I was eating, skeptically. I was about to bombard myself with "what ifs" but decided against it.
- "You were late" I frowned. "That's not a good word ethic, if you ask me"
- "Would you pardon me if you hear that I went out of town to get something nice for my wife?"
- Like hell, I care about his damn marriage.
- "You should know how to balance work and relationship. Please try not to come late again" I said, dismissing him by waving my hands.
- He wasn't an exception to whatever order I gave to Lena. I didn't want anyone including him, around my office.
- "You know I don't regret going out of my way to make my wife happy" He said, his tone serious.
- I wasn't even quarreling with him over this so why is he being so serious Scoffing I said, "I really don't know why you're telling me that. You're a good husband. Kudos!"
- "Do you think I'm a good husband?" His eyes lit up in .... Happiness? I couldn't tell.
- "Why are we having this discussion? I am not a marriage counselor nor a therapist so please" Emptying my cup of parfait, I dipped my hand into the bag, searching for a serviette. When I found it, I damped it around my lips.
- "I should leave you to work then" He smiled standing up His smile was beginning to irritate me. I just glared at him, waiting for him to leave.
- "What are you waiting for? Open the door already" I groaned "I'm happy I could put a genuine smile on your beautiful face" He said, ignoring the death glare I was throwing at him.
- "What do you mean?" I asked, raising an eyebrow at him.
- Smile?
- "Check the receipt in the bag" He nodded at the bag. I gave him a skeptical look, curiosity gnawed at me. I hurriedly pulled the bag, chucking my hand to search for the receipt.
- Antonio Rodriguez "You... You bought this" I would be lying if I said I wanted to throw out my guts. I didn't want to. I loved every taste of it Oh my goodness, he watched me eat it cheerfully.
- "And you referred to me as your husband" His face lit up in amusement.
- "That's... That was because I had a mistaken belief" I defended. Which was the truth "Still doesn't change anything" He shrugged, turning to open the door.
- "What's going on here?" Gerald stood at the door, looking between Antonio and I.
- "We were rekindling old flames" Antonio said, winking at me.
- Oh no, he didn't.
- Standing up, I walked up to Gerald giving Antonio an evil smirk. "Hi husband" I raised my leg, pecking his lips before pulling him inside my office.
- "Did you miss me, Baby?" He smiled down at me.
- "Can you shut my door on your way out? I'll tell you if I need your help" I smirked at Antonio who stared at him furiously.
- What was his problem?
- "Enjoy all these while it lasts brother" Antonio said, glaring at Gerald.
- "Is that a threat, brother?" Gerald smirked, pulling me into him.
- Oh, I was loving this!
- "Let's continue from where we stopped later, okay amoré?" Antonio smirked. "Try not to conceal your moan when next you do that okay?"
