Chapter 4 How Does Losing Feel

  • "Still working?" Antonio said, holding my door open
  • Glancing at him swiftly, I rolled my eyes at his presence. What does he want now?
  • "Do you know the time?" He strolled in, dragging a seat to himself.
  • Ignoring him, I kept on tapping on my keyboard. I needed to finish this work before I get up from here.
  • "It's 8pm. Quite late, you know?" On hearing that, my eyes quickly shot up. "Got your attention now"
  • I checked the time on the laptop for confirmation. He wasn't wrong. However what he didn't know was whenever I draft out a schedule for the day, I try my possible best to hit it.
  • "I guess I didn't get your attention" He said again.
  • "Don't you have a family to go home to? A sick dying mother?" I glared at him, my fingers hanging in the air.
  • "Don't you have a husband to go home to? Or is he too busy to not care about his wife?" He smirked at me As if on cue, my phone began to vibrate on the table. Gerald's name popped up. I smiled at Antonio wickedly, picking up my phone from the desk.
  • "You were saying?" I laughed lightly before picking the call. "Hey husband" I said sweetly Antonio's face contorted into anger. He didn't bother to hide the fact that he was clearly angry.
  • I quickly tell Gerald I'll be home soon and also thanked him for looking after the house for me. By house, he knew who I meant.
  • "He should enjoy this while it lasts." Antonio scoffed when I dropped the phone on the table.
  • "If I may ask, Mr Rodriguez. Why are you still here in the office. It seems to me that you have nothing to do." I raised my eyebrows at him while I shut the laptop.
  • "Keeping an eye on my property." He said, folding his arms as he looked at me "You mean your - sorry, my company? If you had kept a good eye on it, we wouldn't have been in such situation now, would we?" I titled my head sideways.
  • "I don't know about you but this 'situation' as you call it, doesn't seem to be that bad? I mean..."
  • "I'll be leaving now" I stood up, cutting him off. I didn't want to hold much conversation with this man. He didn't deserve my time.
  • "That's great then" He stood up, watching me as I packed up my documents and bag.
  • "Ah one question, who was the financial secretary in your time?" I asked, suddenly remembering something I saw.
  • "Why are you asking me that all of a sudden? I thought you're done with work?" He raised an eyebrow at me "You can keep the name to yourself, i have my way around things anyway" I picked my bag. "Excuse me" I gave him a pointed look "Hm?"
  • "Oh for goodness sake, Mr Rodriguez. You're in my way" I pointed at the door.
  • "What if I don't want to let you go?" He raised my chin, rubbing his thumb on my lips.
  • "These are not matte!" Slapping his hands off my lips, I pushed him out of the door "Wait for me!" He yelled, following me out. Hearing that, I increased my pace. I wanted to get out here so bad. I didn't like that I let him get that close to me. It's not good.
  • "Lock up. Thank you" I said to the security man politely.
  • Seeing that I lost him, I dived into my car before searching for my keys. After inserting the key into the ignition and turning on the flash light of my car, only then did I see a figure standing in front of my car.
  • Don't this man give up?
  • "You know I could run you over with my car right?" I yelled after winding down my screen.
  • "I'd love to see you try" He dared, tucking his arm into his pocket.
  • With determination, I roared my engine to live. I was going to scare him out of my way. Pushing the pedal, I drove forward a little thinking he'd jump out of the way but he didn't.
  • "Do you want to die?" I huffed, stepping on the break.
  • "As long as you're the one killing me then that's fine" He shrugged.
  • "What do you want?" Frowning, I came down of the car.
  • "A ride" He smiled sheepishly. I blinked at him trying to comprehend what he just said. Why would he need a ride.
  • "You can book one. There's Uber." I folded my arms at him.
  • "My battery is dead" He flashed his phone at my face.
  • "So..."
  • "Not to waste much of your time, I'll just enter" He said, turning round into the passenger seat.
  • Wait, what?
  • "Oh no, no. I will not be giving you a ride" I marched towards the passenger seat, ready to drag him out "You loved it. What changed?" He smirked.
  • My mouth fell open at the sexual innuendo in what he just said but I quickly ignored it before grunting and stomping over to the drivers seat I can't believe him!
  • He won just this time.
  • "How does losing feel?" He chuckled.
  • "I should ask you that?" I said, turning on the music.
  • "You remember the way to our house, right?" He asked, making my breath hitch.
  • I never thought I'd go back there again. That house had memories I wouldn't love to revisit soon.
  • Ignoring him once more for the day, I pushed on the break because of the traffic light. I used that moment to take his phone from his hand and plug it in my car.
  • "What are you doing?" He asked, looking at me skeptically.
  • "I'm not sure you want to miss your mother's call. She'll be worried" I smiled at him. The smile didn't reach my eyes.
  • "Oh, that's thoughtful of you" He said, still looking at me skeptically. I guess he didn't believe me.
  • He was staring at me shamelessly and I could feel it. I really wanted to tell him to stop but I had something else in mind and I wanted to surprise him.
  • "Where's this? Why are we stopping?" He asked, looking at the road. "You want to stop for a food?" He raised his eyebrow "Can you take your phone and help me check if my tyre is flat?" I pouted "Oh sure, why not" He smiled, jumping down happily.
  • Grinning happily, I clicked on door lock and brought down the glass.
  • "Oh, don't bother my good sir." I said out loud. "Everything is fine"
  • "What is this?" He yelled, holding the door handle, struggling to open the door.
  • "I'm sure you know the way to yo ur house from here." I flashed him a smile. "And now you don't have excuse of low battery" I winked at him before driving off
