- His face was so close now, the heat of his breath brushing my lips. Sage’s eyes had gone heavy-lidded, golden irises darkened with something that made my stomach flip. He leaned in slowly, deliberately, lips parting just enough that I could see the faint glint of teeth behind them—cherry-red, soft, inviting. I swallowed hard, my own eyes threatening to cross as I stared, frozen, waiting for the inch between us to disappear.
