Chapter 8 The Alpha's “Shame”
- 【Damien POV】
- “Ah—!!!”
- A scream echoed through that damn filthy “Rogue” bar Kaelen owned!
- The pain was unbearable!
- Me, the Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack, was dragged out of that bar like a dead dog by Kaelen’s goons!
- I felt like at least three of my bones were broken!
- “Alpha! Are you okay?!”
- “Quick! Protect the Alpha!”
- My guards—those useless bastards—finally snapped out of it. They helped me up, panic all over their faces, and shoved me into the car.
- “Get the hell away!”
- I shoved them off with one hand.
- “Bang!”
- I slammed my fist hard against the car window.
- “Kaelen…”
- I gritted my teeth, forcing the name out through clenched jaws.
- I swear, I’m gonna kill that son of a bitch! I’ll burn down his whole damn “Rogue” nest to the ground!
- And her!
- Selene!
- That bitch!
- I closed my eyes, the image of her standing at the top of the stairs on the second floor flashing in my mind—looking at me like I was trash and telling me to “get lost”!
- How dare she?!
- A worthless “Rogue”!
- She actually ignored my “Alpha command”!
- And she even dared to...
- Slap me!
- “Smack!”
- That slap still burned on my cheek like fire!
- The biggest humiliation of my life!
- “Alpha…”
- My Beta, Marcus, spoke up, his voice shaking, “Should we… head back to the Pack now?”
- “Back to the Pack?”
- I snapped my eyes open and grabbed him by the collar.
- “Just go back like this?!”
- “My bones are broken! My silver dagger is still stuck in that bitch’s chest! And you want me to crawl back like some lost dog?!”
- “No… no, Alpha…”
- “Where is that bitch?!” I roared. “What happened to her?!”
- Marcus went even paler. “She… she was taken by Kaelen. Your silver dagger pierced her, Alpha… she…”
- “She what?!”
- “She’s not going to make it,” Marcus whispered. “The silver poison Hecate personally forged is in her system, and her healing ability has failed… she’s as good as dead.”
- Dead?
- That answer didn’t bring me relief. It only fueled my rage!
- Why the hell should she die?!
- That worthless Rogue!
- She rejected me! She slapped me!
- She got me humiliated by Kaelen and his pack of Rogues!
- Why the hell should she just die?!
- She should be on her knees in front of me, begging for forgiveness like a dog!
- She should be the one I torture with my own hands!
- ```
- How dare she... die in Kaelen’s arms?!
- “No.”
- “She can’t die.”
- “At least, not like this—so damn cheap.”
- “Hecate!” I shouted, “Where the hell is that old witch?!”
- “She... she was taken by Kaelen’s men...”
- “Taken? Kaelen, do you even realize you’re walking right into my trap?”
- “Hahaha... Selene, I want you alive!”
- And then...
- I’ll personally destroy you!
- I slumped back into my chair, pain and rage sharpening my mind like a blade.
- Wait.
- Something’s off.
- I think... I missed something.
- Selene...
- Why the hell did she dare refuse me?
- Why did she dare exile herself?
- Why... isn’t she scared of the wolf poison anymore?
- That poison—Hecate fed it to her for two whole years!
- That stuff should’ve eaten away her wolf soul by now!
- So how the hell is she still standing? Still got the strength to slap me?!
- Unless...
- Unless she found an antidote for the wolf poison?!
- That thought hit me like a lightning bolt.
- “Marcus!”
- “Alpha!”
- “Get me a damn check!” I roared. “Find out everyone that bitch contacted after she exiled herself!”
- “I want all her call logs! All the surveillance footage!”
- “Yes, Alpha!”
- I’m the Alpha.
- If I want to know something, there’s nothing in this city I can’t find out.
- ...
- Three hours later.
- I’m back at my villa.
- Kaelen... just wait.
- Once I’m done with that bitch, I’m burning your damn bar to the ground!
- *Beep—*
- My private computer buzzed.
- Marcus sent me the investigation report.
- I clicked it open.
- Bus stop surveillance...
- That bitch Selene, wrapped in rags, looking like a damn beggar...
- She opened a locker...
- Pulled out a... burner phone?
- My pupils shrank instantly!
- When the hell did she hide a burner phone?
- Then she rushed into a bathroom.
- At the same time, I opened Selene’s encrypted contacts and text logs.
- *Boom—!!!*
- My Alpha pressure exploded out of control!
- *Bang!!*
- I smashed my mahogany desk to pieces with a single punch!
- Corvus!!!
- That old, stubborn Beta!
- The same old dog who dared talk back to my father and got “exiled” by him!
- Selene...
- She actually dared to contact that old mutt?!
- When the hell did she start working with Corvus?!
- Hahahahahaha!
- Now I get it!
- Corvus! That old dog spent his whole life studying witch medicine! He must’ve given Selene the antidote!
- Or maybe he’s the one bringing it to her!
- No wonder that bitch dared to refuse me!
- No wonder she’s not scared of the wolf poison anymore!
- Turns out, that old mutt’s got her back!
- She thought she’d found a new backer, someone to lean on so she could slowly get her strength back, let her wolf spirit wake up bit by bit, and then turn back into that genius Alpha!
- “Dream on!”
- “Marcus!”
- “Here, Alpha!”
- “That old bastard Corvus! Where is he?!”
- “He... he’s out by the Black Forest outside the city... He’s been holed up there... lately, he’s been gathering herbs on the mountain.”
- “Gathering herbs?”
- I chuckled.
- Gathering herbs?
- More like hunting for the cure to wolf poison!
- Helio Flower—the antidote to wolf poison!
- “Good.”
- “Perfect.”
- I stood up.
- I’m gonna make that bastard utterly hopeless!
- “Marcus!”
- “Here, Alpha!”
- “First,”
- “Use my Alpha authority right now to announce to every Pack—”
- “Selene! Traitor to the Alpha! Colluding with Rogues!”
- “She’s cursed.”
- “No Pack is allowed to take her in! No one is to help her!”
- “Anyone who breaks this is declaring war on my Silver Moon Pack!”
- “Second,”
- “Send out my Shadow Guard.”
- “To the Black Forest.”
- “I don’t care what you do...”
- “Break that old bastard Corvus’s legs!”
- “Snatch the Helio Flower from his hands!”
- “Yes, Alpha!”
- ...
- I stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, staring out at the moon.
- Selene...
- You filthy bitch.
- You think just because Kaelen kidnapped Hecate, you can save your silver poison?
- That old witch Hecate’s long been on my payroll.
- The cure she gave you? It’ll only speed up your death! And your wolf poison...
- Your one and only cure—the Helio Flower...
- Is about to be in my hands!
- I hold the antidote to wolf poison.
- I know the weak spot of silver poison too.
- Selene...
- You’re dead meat!
- *Ding dong—*
- My phone buzzed.
- It was a message from the Shadow Guard.
- A photo.
- That old bastard Corvus, lying in a pool of blood.
- Clutched tightly in his hand... a golden Helio Flower.
- I smirked.
- “Selene... the game’s over.”
- I was about to shut off my phone.
- Suddenly—
- An unknown number called.
- I frowned and answered.
- “Who’s this?”
- A cold voice came through the line.
- “Damien.”
- “Did you get the Helio Flower?”
- ```
