Chapter 6 King Of The Wanderers

  • 【Selene POV】
  • “Bang!”
  • The stall door got kicked open from the outside with brutal force!
  • I was slumped on the cold tile floor, my mind slipping away under the poison’s grip.
  • I forced myself to lift my head.
  • Three rough-looking guys blocked the doorway, their breath reeking of booze mixed with pheromones—disgusting as hell.
  • “Hey, boys, look! We got ourselves a chick!”
  • “Look at her... she’s probably high as hell, right?”
  • “Who cares! This girl’s damn fine! We’re in luck tonight!”
  • One of them sneered and reached out toward me.
  • “Get the fuck away…”
  • I tried to fight back, but I didn’t even have the strength to lift a finger.
  • “Not bad, huh?”
  • The guy grabbed a fistful of my hair, trying to drag me up off the floor.
  • “Stop!”
  • Just then, a deep voice boomed from behind them.
  • The three guys froze like deer caught in headlights.
  • Through my blurry vision, I looked over.
  • A tall man in a black suit was standing at the bathroom entrance.
  • He was tall, backlit so I couldn’t see his face clearly.
  • But I could smell him.
  • A strong, fierce Beta scent.
  • “Who the fuck are you, telling us what to do—”
  • The leader hadn’t finished his sentence.
  • “Bang!”
  • The black-suited Beta moved.
  • I didn’t even catch what he did!
  • Like a black lightning bolt.
  • Three dull cracks sounded as the once cocky men collapsed to the floor like sacks of garbage, knocked out cold.
  • So fast!
  • This Beta… he was a beast!
  • After dealing with them, he slowly walked over to me.
  • Crouched down.
  • I finally got a clear look at his face.
  • Cold. Scarred. Hard as a knife.
  • His eyes landed on my hand clutching the phone.
  • “You’re looking for Corvus?”
  • My heart dropped like a stone!
  • How the hell did he know?!
  • “You…”
  • I barely got a word out before blood surged up my throat again.
  • “Pfft—”
  • The “wolf poison” was flaring up—full blast!
  • “Damn it!”
  • The Beta cursed low.
  • He snatched my phone, glanced at it, then grabbed my wrist hard.
  • “You’re the Selene who turned down Damien?”
  • He knew my name!
  • I was too weak to answer.
  • Darkness was swallowing me whole.
  • “Hold on!”
  • He scooped me up off the floor.
  • “Shit, Damien’s people have tracked us all the way to the bus stop!”
  • Cradling me, he rushed out of the bathroom.
  • ```
  • Before I completely blacked out, I heard him growl into the mic by his ear:
  • “Wang! I’m bringing her over right now! Her wolf venom’s flaring up—she’s about to die!”
  • ...
  • I have no idea how long I was out, but a loud, heated argument woke me up.
  • “Kaelen! Just you wait!”
  • “That bitch! She got hit by my wolf venom! Without my orders, Hecate won’t give her the antidote! She’s not gonna last more than a few days!”
  • That voice...
  • It was Damien!
  • I snapped my eyes open!
  • I found myself lying in... a medical room?
  • The air was thick with the smell of herbs.
  • Looking down, my ragged hoodie had been swapped out for a clean black bathrobe.
  • My body... didn’t hurt as much?
  • That burning pain deep inside, like my organs were on fire, was now crushed under a wave of cool medicine.
  • Someone... had given me an inhibitor for the wolf venom!
  • “She’s a waste of space now! A stray she-wolf anyone can fuck!”
  • Damien’s curses were still echoing downstairs!
  • “She thinks you saved her? You just picked up a dying piece of trash!”
  • “She...”
  • That voice dripped with this sickening, condescending pity.
  • Like I wasn’t even human.
  • Like I was some stray cat or dog he’d “graciously” decided to rescue.
  • I gritted my teeth, gripping the edge of the bed so hard my knuckles turned white, forcing myself to stand.
  • *Creak—*
  • I shoved open the medical room door.
  • Standing at the top of the stairs on the second floor, I leaned on the railing and stared coldly at the figure down in the lobby.
  • “Shut up.”
  • The lobby was a bar.
  • A bar packed with dozens of Rogues!
  • Damien and his Beta guards stood smack in the middle, surrounded by a pack of Rogues eyeing them like prey.
  • Facing Damien was a man I’d never seen before.
  • Tall, with an aura that screamed “King”—a mix of raw wildness and absolute power!
  • Could he be... the legendary “King of the Rogues”?
  • Was he the one who saved me?
  • Downstairs, Damien spotted me too.
  • His pupils blew wide!
  • “Selene!” he shouted like a maniac, “You fucking bitch! You dare show your face?”
  • He lifted his head and unleashed his ridiculous Alpha command again.
  • “Kneel!”
  • *Boom—*
  • A crushing wave of mental pressure slammed into me!
  • The Beta beside me paled and moved to block it...
  • “Don’t.”
  • The “King” stopped the powerful Beta.
  • Did he want to watch me fail?
  • The wolf venom was still inside me.
  • I’d just refused a Mate bond.
  • I was weak as hell.
  • But...
  • Under the Alpha command’s pressure, I just...
  • He raised an eyebrow.
  • Not even a twitch.
  • Just looked down at that pissed-off scumbag downstairs like he was trash.
  • “Damien.”
  • My voice was soft, but it echoed through the whole bar.
  • “You’re disturbing my sleep.”
  • “Pfft—”
  • That so-called “King” couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
  • Damien’s face instantly went from purple-red to the color of a raw liver!
  • He... he...
  • He just got ignored by a “loser” right in front of all the Rogues!
  • “You... you...” Damien pointed at me, “Your... your wolf spirit... Hecate said...”
  • “Hecate?” I smirked.
  • I slowly walked down the stairs and stood right in front of Damien.
  • “Damien.”
  • “You think,” I said softly, “that me rejecting you was a joke?”
  • “You think your pathetic Alpha orders still work on me?”
  • “You—” Damien was visibly shaken by my presence.
  • “Go crawl back to your pack and your fake-ass green tea bitch. Go be a couple of dog lovers somewhere else and stop bothering people.”
  • “You! You dare tell me to get lost?!”
  • Damien snapped. He couldn’t take the humiliation. Suddenly, he raised his hand and swung hard, aiming to slap me across the face!
  • “Looking for death!”
  • The “King” was about to move—
  • “Smack!”
  • A sharp slap cracked through the air.
  • Not on me.
  • On Damien.
  • I don’t even know where I got the strength!
  • One hard slap, right across Damien’s face!
  • “Bang!”
  • Damien got slammed into a nearby pillar from the force of my slap!
  • The whole place went dead silent.
  • Damien... an Alpha...
  • Just got slapped... the hell out of him... by a broken Luna?!
  • Damien was stunned, clutching his face, staring at me in disbelief.
  • “Your... your strength...”
  • I slowly pulled my hand back, my palm burning like fire.
  • I was barely standing.
  • “Kaelen.”
  • I pointed at Damien lying on the floor.
  • “My business with him is my own.”
  • I reached into the pocket of my bathrobe and pulled out something, tossing it onto the bar.
  • A diamond necklace—the only thing I truly owned that I’d managed to take from the Silver Moon Pack.
  • “This is your reward for saving me.”
  • “I don’t like owing people favors.”
  • He smiled.
  • Just as he was about to say something more—
  • Suddenly—
  • “Ugh!”
  • My body froze.
  • I looked down in disbelief at my chest.
  • There, a silver dagger had pierced through me!
  • It was Damien!
  • He’d lost it! He actually dared to use silver to kill someone on the “King of Rogues” turf!
  • My body felt like a feather, slowly falling backward...
  • ```
