Chapter 4 Outstanding Simmi

  • A few moments before, Simmi and Pari were sitting on the bench in the hospital’s park and Simmi informed Pari what has happened in the dean’s cabin. How arrogant and egoistic the dean of this college is, and she is very disappointed with him.
  • Pari rubbed Simmi’s shoulder considerately. “Simmi, relax. Don’t get disheartened. You can complete your internship in any hospital. Any college would be proud of the fact that the state topper will be a part of their hospital. It’s Goenka hospital’s bad luck that they are losing two genius doctors, Simmi Oberoi and Pari Singh.”
  • Simmi tilted her head in surprise and raised her eyebrows at Pari with a questionable gaze.
  • “Don’t look at me like this; if you will not do your internship from Goenka hospital, then I will also withdraw my name from here. We were together everywhere since we were kids, so why to split the path at this moment?” Pari said to encourage her friend.
  • Simmi shook her head at seeing her crazy friend Pari. “But Pari, I want to do my internship from Goenka hospital only. You know, it was my parents’ dream. Mom told me.” Simmi’s eyes turned glassy at the thought of disappointing her parents.
  • Pari felt bad for her best friend. Simmi never gets upset, let alone tears up. What’s more, just now she addressed Pari with her full name rather than initials. That is really huge for her.
  • “Should I seek my dad’s help?” Pari is a daughter of a home minister. She can force anyone with political pressure with the click of a finger.
  • “Of course not, PS. If this would be the only way, then even I could have used the power of my brother. Rahul Oberoi, he is also a big name in the country, but I am not like others. I want to achieve my success on my own.”
  • “Alright, calm down and take some deep breath. I know as usual you will find a solution to this problem too. Just refresh yourself with the beautiful view.”
  • Simmi sighed and started looking at the kids who were playing merrily in the play area of the park. ‘Seems like they all are patients, wearing patient’s uniform, but looking so cute and innocent.’
  • Simmi loved kids so much; she always helps her sister-in-law, Heena Oberoi, to raise her little niece. Even though kids are enjoying in the park, a frown line appeared on Simmi’s face seeing the doctor in charge who is responsible for kids was constantly busy on mobile and least interested in her duty.
  • Dr. Kiran had brought the kids to the park, but she was fed up with the naughty kids. “Hey, kids don’t run, and don’t do anything mischievous.” After every few minutes, she kept on yelling and again leaned on her mobile screen.
  • “Hey, you don’t go so far. Come here.” Dr. Kiran yelled again to a fat little kid who was playing near the small gate, connecting the hospital and park internally.
  • “No aunty, I would like to play here with this rope.” The little boy denied and kept on playing with the thing he liked.
  • “Don’t call me aunty.” Dr. Kiran screamed angrily and mumbled some curses under her breath. “Oh god, these kids are so annoying. Why does Dr. Isha always have to appoint me to the children’s ward. Old patients are much better, they always sleep.”
  • Simmi and Pari laughed, seeing the annoyed doctor when the little kid called her aunty.
  • “What kind of doctor have they appointed for the kids? She is the least bothered.” Simmi said with disappointment.
  • “I was thinking the same.”
  • Pari and Simmi looked at each other and shared their views about the careless doctor and that was the moment they failed to notice something, which lead the whole situation into an accident.
  • The little boy, playing with the rope, tried to climb it and collapsed on the ground at his back. The glass sign board of Goenka Hospital Park fell very near to him. The park was not crowded, other than Simmi, Pari and Dr. Kiran with kids, only a few people were there.
  • They all ran towards the little boy and were horrified by such a brutal scene. Dr. Kiran’s face had turned pale with the horrified incident. All these kids here were her responsibility, and she had failed in it.
  • Simmi sat down near the boy and saw he was lying in the pool of blood with the glass pieces pierced in his body. His breath was getting abnormal and his chest was pounding rapidly.
  • Kiran immediately came forward and started pressing his chest to make his breath normal, but suddenly Simmi yelled, “No, don’t do like this, don’t press his chest.”
  • Kiran startled at first and stopped her actions, but the next moment, irritation consumed her with the pang of fear in her heart. “Who the hell are you to teach me? He is my patient? I know what I am doing. His breath is getting abnormal, and this is the way to bring him back to normal.”
  • “Glass pieces have pierced in his body; don’t give more pressure to his chest. I am also a doctor. I know his breath is stuck.” Simmi retorted calmly while examining the kid’s body. Then she started searching for something in her handbag.
  • “Doctor, please call the attendant with a stretcher, the child needs to be operated immediately.” Simmi yelled again, seeing the stunned doctor, unmoved.
  • That was the moment Samrat and Arjun came out of the hospital building, saw this accident from afar and moved quickly towards the spot, but before them, Simmi had already started attending to the patient very cleverly and carefully.
  • Simmi fetched out an injection syringe and 2 pairs of gloves from her purse, she tossed one pair of gloves to Pari and asked her to strip the boy’s dress and clenched him tightly. She wore the gloves and held the syringe in her right hand like a dagger, all ready to stab.
  • “What the heck are you doing?” Kiran shouted in panic.
  • Simmi didn’t pay any heed to Kiran’s reactions and relaxed her stiffed muscles before starting the procedure.
  • “Dr. Kiran, let her do this job. She is doing the correct thing. This is the best and fastest way to make his breath normal. Being a doctor, you should know about it.”
  • Arjun came forward to Simmi’s aid and said hurriedly. On the other side, Samrat was really surprised to see such a fast and intelligent way of CPR by a mere intern. It’s really not any simple thing.
  • Simmi stabbed the syringe at the neck of the boy, which was looking brutal, and made the onlookers to shut their eyes, being horrified, including Dr. Kiran.
  • Gradually, the boy’s breath became normal, but he had already lost so much of blood and need to be operated fast.
  • “Call Dr. Isha, right now.” Dr. Arjun ordered Dr. Kiran, who was frozen during the procedure.
  • Dr. Kiran bobbled her head and fetched her phone immediately.
  • After Simmi had completed the procedure, they took the child inside the hospital on a stretcher. Kiran moved fast with them while calling Dr. Isha to attend to this emergency case.
  • Simmi and Pari carefully removed their gloves, threw it in the nearby dust bin and cleaned their hands with pocket sanitizer. Arjun, who was watching their every action, came forward with an impressive look.
  • “Being so young, you are a very smart doctor. From which hospital are you?”
  • “We are interns enrolled in Goenka hospital, but unexpectedly, her internship has been cancelled at the last moment.” Pari pointed at Simmi beside her and said with a sad face.
  • It surprised Arjun after listening to her. How could his approved interns be cancelled without his acknowledgment? “There must be some misunderstanding; it can’t be possible without my concern. By the way, what is your name?”
  • “It’s not any misunderstanding. I am Simmi Oberoi and the dean of the college cancelled my admission.” Simmi didn’t miss taunting Samrat while avoiding his presence completely. Fire was still raging inside her heart.
  • Arjun was surprised again. “Simmi Oberoi, you are a state topper, right? And sister of famous business owner Rahul Oberoi, right again?”
  • Simmi nodded her head slightly. She was elated inwardly. Finally, someone recognize her by her own success and another side constant change of expressions on Samrat’s face was worth watching.
  • “I am Dr. Arjun Grewal, chief in charge of interns. Dr. Simmi Oberoi, Goenka hospital is not a gang of fools who let go such brilliant interns, right Samrat?” Arjun tilted his head and raised his eyebrows to Samrat.
