- Zara didn’t say much, but worry still gnawed at her. If the Ox clan really wanted payback, things could get messy. Still, she trusted Marcus Crawley. If he was ruthless, he’d see this through. A real heavy hitter like him had the chops. She just didn’t want them to clash. She was a businesswoman, after all. No matter what, business runs on one rule: peace first. If both sides could sit down, shake hands, and bury the hatchet, that’d be perfect. But now Marcus and Ox Goldstar had already blown up. Making peace between them would be tough. Nothing to be done about it. Life’s like that—wanting something doesn’t mean you get it. Sometimes when trouble hits, you can’t fix it no matter what you do. If so, that’d be tragic. So Zara was doing everything she could to stop a tragedy. But she kept finding there were so many things she just couldn’t control. The world is like that—wanting it doesn’t make it so. If everything went your way, you’d be God.
- “Alright, Marcus. Whatever you decide to do, I’ve got your back.” Zara smiled. She’d always been a firm ally of Mr. Grey. Since they were all good friends, they had to back each other up, no matter what. If you can’t even do that, that’s just bullshit. And that kind of crap wasn’t going to happen. Real pros keep a grip on everything.
