Chapter 1387 You Can’t Kill Me

  • Right now, Rodman and the others were full of questions. Why would Marcus Crawley dare to do something so suicidal? Everyone in the world knew the Rothschild family was insanely powerful. Nobody went up against people like that. Yet here and now, Marcus Crawley stood up and declared he’d fight them to the end. It made zero sense to them. What the hell was going on? How could one man get this full of himself? He clearly didn’t have the strength. And he still stepped out to do this? “I’ve survived this long on three things—numbers, loyalty, and raw strength,” Marcus said. “Are you planning to leave here alive or not?” His voice was ice-cold. For a man like him, once things hit the breaking point, he had to unleash everything he had. If he didn’t, Mandoria’s safety couldn’t be guaranteed. And that would be a disaster. Marcus knew Mandoria was weak right now. If the enemy really came crashing in, they wouldn’t be able to hold. So the best move was simple: Marcus would stand up and handle it alone. In his mind, his strength and his connections were enough to end this. If he couldn’t even pull that off, what was he—trash? “Kid, I kind of respect you, but damn, you’re thick as a brick. You think someone like you can protect Mandoria?” Rodman was fuming. A normal person would see things going south and run. But Marcus chose to face the Rothschilds head-on. Wasn’t that just begging to die? They couldn’t figure out why Marcus would do this. But to Marcus, if you claimed to be righteous, you did the right thing no matter what. Only then were you a real badass. Guarding your home and your country—that was exactly what Marcus Crawley stood for. “Kid, I used to admire you. I thought bringing you into our family would be a smart move,” Rodman said. “But now I think that was the dumbest idea. You’re not qualified to join the Rothschilds. Of course, if you really want in, you could be my errand boy.” He chuckled. “Ha! I thought the Rothschilds were full of big shots. Turns out you’re a bunch of morons,” Marcus shot back with a grin. A man like him didn’t put them in his sights at all. Truth was, their strength was far below his. If he made a move, he could wipe them out. And to him, that was something he had to do. If he couldn’t even manage that, he’d be useless. A real master should be able to scare people like this into silence. “Kid, you’re about to die and you still have the mood to laugh?” Rodman sneered. “Why not? If you want me dead, shouldn’t you ask the Zombie King first?” Marcus smiled. Since the Zombie King was here, things weren’t going to be that simple. Maybe the Zombie King would turn on Rodman and the others. “Ha! And that’s why I called you an idiot. You really think the Zombie King will attack us? Don’t be naïve,” Rodman said. “Right now, the Zombie King only wants you dead. He’s with us.” “We’re partners,” the Zombie King said in a low growl. Hearing that, Marcus’s eyes widened. You’ve got to be kidding me. Mandoria’s Zombie King, teaming up with outsiders? That flipped his worldview on its head. If he hadn’t seen it himself, he wouldn’t have believed it. “Zombie King, you’re from Mandoria. How can you help foreigners attack your own?” Marcus barked. The Zombie King let out a twisted laugh. “I’m a zombie, not human. Your rules don’t bind me. I help whoever I want. And you can’t do a damn thing about it.” A creature like him didn’t care about Mandoria’s safety. All he wanted was to feed. So of course he vibed with the Rothschilds. That’s what made him truly ruthless. A Zombie King that bowed to pressure wasn’t a king—just another corpse. Unacceptable. His plan was simple: kill Marcus, break the barrier, and once he got out, he’d rule the world. “Enough talk. If you’ve got the guts, come kill me,” Marcus said blandly. “You think we can’t?” Rodman hissed. Once a man like Rodman made up his mind, anyone who stood in his way got cut down. That was what a real master looked like. Only the strongest could claim the top. Boom! The Zombie King and Rodman charged together. The scene made Ma Xiaoling’s heart jump. “Watch out!” she yelled. Rodman and the Zombie King were both terrifying. Their power blew past normal limits. Beating either one of them was nearly impossible. And now they’d joined forces. That was enough to make anyone’s blood run cold. Which meant Marcus was in serious danger. No matter how strong you were, you couldn’t stand against that. Ma Xiaoling was scared something would happen to him. But at a moment like this, nothing she said would help. She couldn’t do anything anyway. “Relax. The two of them can’t kill me,” Marcus said with an easy smile. Sure, they were strong. But so what? A real master didn’t sweat that. With Marcus’s skills, maybe he couldn’t beat them outright, but he could always dodge. As long as he kept moving, they couldn’t finish him. Simple as that. The only downside? It wouldn’t sound great for his reputation.
