- We climbed out of the van, taking in the temple’s quiet beauty. A few locals glanced our way, curious but largely indifferent. The temple grounds were serene, with a subtle hum of chanting and the faint scent of incense drifting through the air. As we stepped inside, a woman greeted us, her warm smile lighting up her face. Her accent was slightly different from Chen’s, less polished but friendly. She looked us over with amused curiosity.
- “You’re not from around here, are you?” she remarked, her gaze dancing between Victoria and me. With surprising tenderness, she reached out, lifting my chin and lightly patting Victoria’s cheek. “You two are pretty!”
- Caught off guard, I managed a smile. “Thank you! We’re looking for someone named Gang. Do you happen to know anyone by that name?”
