- A knot of unease twisted in my stomach. "Think this through, Victoria! Don’t take it lightly—there’s a lot more to this ritual than just a little chanting. Regret, pain, all that dark stuff!" I hurried after her, my voice dropping to a near whisper as if the shadows around us were listening. I tried to keep pace, my feet barely making a sound as I ran on my toes to catch up.
