I folded my arms, raising an eyebrow, daring him to make a choice.

"Don’t waste my time like this again!" he bellowed, his voice echoing through the still air as if he needed to remind everyone of his authority. Dominic wasted no time, sprinting toward the barrier, his feet barely touching the ground.
  • "Let the poor guy go! He’s no threat!" Hunter barked, his voice dripping with false reassurance. The guards hesitated for only a moment before obeying, parting to let Dominic escape into the night. As I watched Dominic disappear, the reality of my situation sank in. I was now alone, standing in the lion's den, completely defenseless.
