Chapter 24 Matters Of The Heart Part 1

  • It was a social gathering, a party to be precise, that Unwoo wanted to avoid. It has always been emotionally draining for him to attend company dinners and large-scale events. His social anxiety was amplify to an unacceptable degree in these social gatherings filled with people he barely knew. He often felt out of place, like a fish out of water, struggling to breathe in an unfamiliar environment. The unfortunate thing for Unwoo was he did not come from a wealthy, noble family, nor did he have siblings who had been educated in exotic, far-off places. As a middle-class man, he was a simple man who had no silver spoons in his mouth.
  • He found solace in a secluded corner of the room as a way to isolate himself from the overwhelming crowd. His parents were not those who were born with silver spoons in their mouths but had to work hard for their living. He observed Irook, who seemed to effortlessly socialize and charm his way through the crowd with his radiant smile. Unwoo could not help but feel a sense of envy. He inadvertently exhaled a heavy sigh while aimlessly swirling his glass of champagne as the room was filled with lively chatter and laughter. How wonderful it must be to be in Irook's shoes. In his solitary chair, he gazed at the impressive nighttime panorama of Seoul that stretched out before him. His first experience in a skyscraper was this high. From this height, he could see Yeouido, Seoul's main finance and investment banking district, even more captivating, with its tiny lights zipping past like a ballet of lights. He felt a gentle tap on his shoulder as he lost himself in the captivating view. When he turned around, he was greeted by a familiar face, a small smile tugged at his lips.
  • "Having fun?" Irook asked, resting his hand comfortably on Unwoo's shoulder.
