• She couldn’t even quite take in what had just happened—the fact that she’d seen Travis again for the first time since those cataclysmic days.
• When she was finally feeling a little more in control she went to Daniel and sat down on the floor beside him. Without even taking his eyes off the TV he crawled into her lap and her heart constricted. She kissed his head.
• Travis’ words came back to her: “This is not over, Freya. I’ll leave now, because I don’t want to upset the boy, but you’ll be hearing from me.”
