- I boarded the flight already half-hard.
- It wasn’t nerves or excitement or some pathetic hope for adventure. I was just tired of pretending I didn’t want someone to ruin me.
- Business class was overbooked, so they bumped me to first. Lucky me. I slid into the leather seat with all the nonchalance I could muster, though I knew I didn’t belong here.
