Chapter 5 Custody Not Mine

  • I will hide you from the world so that when the moon shines I can worship you.
  • - Damien
  • DAMIEN POV
  • I opened my eyes to find myself in the hospital bed. I looked around the room but I saw no one. I ringed the buzzer next to me and soon a nurse came in.
  • "Ye-es Sir?", the nurse asked with panic evident in her eyes. Maybe she didn't expect me to wake up so early.
  • It has started to annoy me.
  • "How long was I out?", I directly asked her.
  • "For about twenty eight hours.", the nurse whispered.
  • "How is Amber?", I asked her.
  • "The operation went successful. She will be fine soon.", the nurse told me.
  • Thank God she was safe. If anything should had happened to her then I should have killed each and every worker of the hospital personally with my hand.
  • "Do you feel any pain?", the nurse asked me. I hate it when someone asks question from me.
  • Does she think that I am so weak that I couldn't stand a surgery. I went through many surgery and even survived without surgery.
  • I tried getting up but the nurse came forward to stop me. Who does she think is she? She is no one to stop me.
  • "Don't you dare touch me and I would do whatever I want.", I hissed while getting up.
  • "Sorry.", the nurse squealed as she rushed towards the door.
  • "Wait, where are my clothes?", I called her. I can't roam around with a blue pants and shirt looking like a fool.
  • "They are in the closet.", the nurse pointed towards a tiny closet at the corner of the room before leaving the room. I quickly got up from the bed while my back hurt. Well I won't say it out loud but it hurt bad.
  • I quickly went towards the closet and picked out my cloths. I went in the bathroom and quickly changed into my clothes.
  • I looked at my phone to see countless calls and messages. Can't they work without me for a day? I sighed and decided to ignore my phone.
  • I was excited about meeting my daughter and Rain. Once Amber is out of the hospital I would take them both with me. I will even have a family.
  • Yes a family.
  • Such an appealing thought.
  • A ghost of a smile appeared on my lips as I left the room just thinking about it.
  • I quickly made my way towards Amber's room. I looked through the transparent hole in the translucent glass door. I saw Amber sleeping peacefully on the bed with a oxygen mask attached to her mouth. I also saw Rain sleeping on the chair. It was then only I realised that it was midnight.
  • I entered the room and my blood boiled seeing the same man, Sam sleeping on the couch. What the hell was he doing in this room? I silently made my way towards the boy as I lifted his collar.
  • His eyes fluttered open as I lifted him.
  • "What the h....", Sam started but a glare from my side silenced him. I swiftly dragged him out of the room without waking Rain and Amber.
  • "Who are you?", I asked Sam to which he audibly gulped.
  • There were two emotions in his eyes namely fright and confusion.
  • So he knows who am I or what can I do. I looked at Sam expecting an answer but he just stood there starring with wide eyes at me. It irked me to no extent. When I ask a question then I want an immediate response.
  • "Answer you fool.", I hissed at him and that brought him out of his daze.
  • "I am her best friend since childhood.", Sam stated.
  • This calmed me down a bit.
  • "Is there anything going on between you two?", I asked him.
  • "Between Rain and me. Haha.... There is nothing going on between us.", Sam stated with a nervous laugh.
  • I let my hands snake around neck his as I tightened my hold. Sam eyes widened as he tried to restrain me. But he was no match to me.
  • "Listen to me very carefully. Maintain a good distance from Rain and Amber and if I found you kissing anyone of them. Then you will be six feet under the ground.", I hissed to him in a lethal tone to which he frantically nodded his head. I let go of his neck as he rushed in the opposite direction.
  • Once I was satisfied with my deed, I entered the room to find Rain wide awake. As soon as I entered Rain's head turned in my direction but after seeing my face, a frown made it's way on her forehead. Was she expecting someone else. Just thinking about it made my blood boil.
  • Cool down Damien you don't need to scare her anymore. You have done it a lot of time with them but not anymore. I quietly made my way to her and sat at the corner of the bed looking directly at her.
  • She didn't say anything for a long time and I was started to get irritated. Was she giving me the silent treatment?
  • "Rain.", I softly called her to which she looked up at me. Her doe eyes had tears in them and she was trying hard to not have a breakdown.
  • "Why ar-ren't you taking rest. You just had a operation?", she asked me. After all I have done she was still worried about me. A smile was tugged on my face.
  • "What?", Rain asked me confused.
  • "You care about me.", I pointed out.
  • Rain didn't say a word. She just sighed. What did I say something wrong? She looked up at me and her face didn't show any emotion. I really didn't know what she was thinking about.
  • "You have my daughter your bone marrow so this was least I could do. I don't care about you Mr. Black. Also I am crying seeing Amber in pain and not you.", Rain said in a soft tone emphasizing on the you.
  • I stayed calm even after she said that. I know I have done things in the wrong way so I don't expect her to jump in my arms.
  • I ain't that senseless.
  • "But she is still my daughter and once she gets fine I would take both of you with me.", I snugly added.
  • "You can't do that.", Rain stated in a challenging way.
  • "Why is that so to?", I said through gritted teeth. Man now she was getting on my nerves.
  • "Because I have Amber's official custody.", Rain stated.
  • "Wait but I never signed such papers.", I argued.
  • "Yes you have three days after our first meeting.", Rain explained.
  • Did I sign such papers? Then it suddenly came in my mind that Rain visited me again after three days.
  • I watched the city from the glass mirror when my telecom rang. God why can't I get some peace. I walked to my desk and picked up the line.
  • "Sir a girl named Rain wants to meet you.", the secretary whose name I don't care to remember said.
  • Rain, have I heard this name before. I put some pressure on my brain and then I remembered. Yes this is the same girl who came to meet me three days back saying she was pregnant with my child. What a clingy slut!
  • I turned the CCTV camera footage of the reception to see her standing there. Was a slap not enough for? I thought to myself. Well I think I need to teach her a lesson.
  • "Send her up.", I said through the line before placing it back in it's place.
  • I looked outside the window patiently waiting for her. Guess I need to teach that whore a lesson. I heard a knock on the door as a smirk tugged on my face. Guess it's time to have some fun.
  • "Come in.", I commanded as I heard the door open. I leisurely turned around to see her standing in a pink sundress. Guess she is part of the sundress squad.
  • "So again here to beg to me?", I asked.
  • "I want you to sign these papers.", Rain stated.
  • It irked me. I am the one to give command. No one can tell me what to do. I am the boss here not she.
  • I took steps in her direction and stood towering in front of her. She looked like baby in my comparison. I gripped her arm and squeezed it rather painfully.
  • "Aaahhh...", Rain cried.
  • So now you understand not to mess with me. I gave her arm another squeeze making sure it left a bruised mark. Tears pooled in her eyes. Oh boy such a crying baby. Once satisfied with my deed I let go of her arm.
  • "Never command me.", I hissed to her as I saw her cradling her arm.
  • "Now tell me what brings you here?", I asked her as I saw her trembling before me. Terror, I like it.
  • "I want you to sign these papers giving me the full custody of my child.", she whispered.
  • Well I don't want to do anything with that non existent bastard. But I am no fool that I would sign the paper blindly. What if she wants some money or property. But the thing that confused me was that even when it was not my child she came here to make me sign the papers. Maybe this is a trick of her to make me believe that the bastard is mine.
  • "Give me the paper.", I told her as I snatched the paper from her hand. Next thing I did was to carefully read the papers.
  • Nothing. She asked for nothing in the paper just the custody of the child. Once satisfied, I signed the paper and handed it over to her.
  • She looked through the paper and was about to leave when I grabbed her other arm.
  • "Ye-es.", Rain stammered.
  • I pulled her flushed in my chest as I bent down to her level and whispered in her ears,"Don't ever show me your ugly face again."
  • I felt a shiver ran down her spine and let me tell you it was not the good shiver. She simply nodded her head as she rushed out of my office.
  • I remember it. I signed such papers. I felt like banging my head on the wall. How could I have been such a big imbecile. I have no way to get Amber's custody.
  • I looked up at Rain to find her looking at me. Damn it. I have made a great mistake. Now I need a plan B to take both of them with me.
  • "But she is my daughter.", I childishly argued.
  • "Mr. Black what you did is appreciateable but you can't take my daughter away from me.", Rain stated.
  • Her words angered me. How dare she. She can't stop me from taking my daughter with me. She has no rights to do so. I am the king and I always get what I want.
  • I stood up from my sitting position and moved in her direction taking predatory steps. How dare she disrespect my decision.
  • Rain stood up from her chair and took some steps back. Terror, I could see it in her eyes. I wanted her to fear me for all other reasons not because of the pain I can cause her because now I am not capable of causing her any.
  • I moved closer till the time I didn't cage her between the wall and my arm.
  • Where will you run now, kitten?
  • "You think you can stop me from taking my daughter?", I whispered in her ears. My voice soft yet threatful.
  • She looked up at me and I could clearly see determination in her hazel orbs. Was she trying to challenge me. Well then I love challenges.
  • "You can't take her away from me.", Rain said with determination.
  • I won't lie. I was quite amused by her confidence and her tone while her body was betraying her by trembling in my presence. It was as in a moment she lost her confidence and was now looking at my shoes.
  • "Tsk, tsk. I am not taking Amber away from you rather I would like to take both of you with me.", I said in a serious tone.
  • I looked at her to see her already looking at me.
  • "But I have her official custody.", Rain argued. Nice try. But sorry a paper cannot stop me.
  • "I own this whole town and a foolish paper can't stop me.", I told her as a matter of fact. I keep the police and law in my pocket. They won't dare go against me.
  • "But..."
  • Before she could continue, a man around my age entered the room. His eyes searched the room and stopped at Rain.
  • "Honey.", he called Rain. How dare he call Rain with such endearment. No one is suppose to call her like that.
  • Before I could say anything, Rain broke free from my cage and rushed to that man.
  • "Karl.", Rain whispered as she hugged him.
