Chapter 9 Meeting Tao Yuhan Again

  • Qi Yushi stood outside the bathroom fixing her makeup - upon applying the finishing touch, she went to wash her hands. Just then, she heard a voice from behind her. “Qi Yushi, fancy meeting you here! Life sure is full of coincidences.”
  • The all too familiar voice was gentle, yet laced with scorn and ridicule - Qi Yushi lifted her head, only to be greeted with the reflection of Tao Yuhan’s charming face in the mirror.
  • Qi Yushi’s face hardened. Why do I always seem to bump into her? Why does it seem like she’s always following me around?
  • “How wanton you are, Qi Yushi - it seems like the five years that you were together with Cen Ziming didn’t mean anything to you at all! In the blink of an eye, you’ve suddenly switched over to Zhan Senyu - I guess everything that you told me when you were begging me to leave Cen Ziming were all lies!”
  • Hearing Cen Ziming’s name come out from Tao Yuhan’s mouth made Qi Yushi lose it.
  • “How can you be so shameless, Tao Yuhan? My five-year relationship with Cen Ziming was genuine - although I don’t know what the heck you did to make him forget me, it doesn’t mean that I have forgotten him! Do you think your own feelings are genuine? Mark my words, a relationship that is built on nothing but lies and cheating will collapse one day. So what if you’re with him now? He was once mine! I can’t believe that you have the cheek to spend so much effort just to pick up someone I no longer want!”
  • When Qi Yushi found out about Tao Yuhan and Cen Ziming a year ago, she was crestfallen and devastated - she did not fight back no matter how many insults Tao Yuhan hurled at her. Instead, helpless and meek, she begged Tao Yuhan to return Cen Ziming to her.
  • Ever since that incident, Tao Yuhan had believed from then on that she would always have Qi Yushi wrapped around her finger, completely at her mercy - never did she expect for the Qi Yushi before her now to be so haughty and sharp-mouthed.
  • Infuriated with Tao Yuhan’s outrageous words, Qi Yushi flushed red with anger and could no longer hold herself back - she lifted her hand and slapped Tao Yuhan in the face.
  • “You bitch-”
  • Qi Yushi was not the least bit intimidated - she stood her ground firmly, not even taking a step back, as the fury in her heart continued to burn. She roughly grabbed Tao Yuhan’s wrist and squeezed it, causing Tao Yuhan to cry out in pain.
  • “Here’s a taste of your own medicine, you bitch!”
  • Qi Yushi spat coldly as she harshly shoved Tao Yuhan.
  • Unable to keep her balance on her 8cm tall high heels - Tao Yuhan wobbled, and began to fall.
  • Just before she collapsed onto the cold, hard ground, a figure suddenly emerged and caught Tao Yuhan in his embrace.
  • He held her carefully, as though she were a precious treasure.
  • Cen Ziming!
  • Qi Yushi felt her heart shatter when she saw his face.
  • “Yuhan, are you alright?” Cen Ziming asked, his face contorted with worry and concern as he scanned Tao Yuhan for injuries. Tao Yuhan leaned further into his embrace, pretending to bite her lip as though she were holding back from showing her pain, her eyes red.
  • “Ziming...I just wanted to fix my makeup...I didn’t think that she would…”
  • Cen Ziming gazed at the woman in his arms as though she had been greatly wronged and had endured much suffering. He glared at Qi Yushi angrily. “Qi Yushi, I believe that I’ve already told you clearly to stay away from Yuhan and stop finding trouble with her! I’m engaged to her and we’re going to get married soon, can you stop ruining things for us? Can’t you find somebody else to pick on?”
  • Qi Yushi felt her guard completely collapse at his words, leaving her vulnerable and trembling.
  • She had loved the man before her for five years.
  • He once loved her, pampered her and kept her warm - but one year ago, something had happened; she returned from filming after spending a few months of being away, only to come back to him forgetting who she was and being with Tao Yuhan.
  • She was heartbroken - he was the one who she confided in and poured her heart into. She had attempted multiple times to remind him about their history to no avail - she had gotten so desperate to the extent that she was crawling to Tao Yuhan and begging her to leave him. Alas, not only had she been humiliated time and time again - the man who had once loved her had also grown to despise her.
  • She was affected so badly that she withdrew into herself - she no longer bothered much about leveraging on her rising popularity as an emerging actress, turning down company gigs because she had been so depressed. Soon enough, she was pretty much replaced by newcomers in the entertainment circle - she had completely lost her chance to ascend from her insignificant status in the industry.
  • I’ve loved this man for five years - and now he’s here before me, telling me that he and that skank Tao Yuhan are getting married?
  • How ironic,
  • “Cen Ziming, while it’s up to you whether or not you leave me, do you really think that the woman in your arms is a good person? She’s a vicious, venomous snake! You have no idea what she has done, and what she is capable of…”
  • “Shut up!” Cen Ziming cut her off. How dare you still think of slandering Yuhan! The typically amiable man was now filled with hatred and resentment.
  • “Zi Ming, don’t waste your breath on her, you can never talk someone like Qi Yushi through.” Tao Yuhan said softly, as though she was innocent. She then turned to Qi Yushi: “Miss Qi, I think you may have a mental problem from the way you are behaving. I know a good psychologist, should I recommend him to you? It’s best to get checked early, otherwise your condition would deteriorate.”
  • Cen Ziming felt impressed and moved by Tao Yuhan’s seeming empathy - fuelling his anger towards Qi Yushi and her seeming recklessness and lack of consideration. He glared at her, eyes full of hatred, as he spat: “Qi Yushi, aren’t you embarrassed that you have hurt such a virtuous woman? Don’t you think you are a wretched woman? How can a woman like you exist in this world?
  • How gentle can a person be with you?
  • How cold can a person be to you?
  • The answers to these two questions were the words that Cen Ziming once told her.
  • Colour drained from Qi Yushi’s face and her lips trembled. Still, she managed a final sneer: “Fine, whatever! I wish the best for the two of you. I won’t bother you two anymore.”
  • Just as she was about to leave, there was a tight grip around her wrist.
  • It was Cen Ziming!
  • Some hope oozed into Qi Yushi.
  • Does...does he remember something?
  • I can’t bring myself to let go and forget about the five years of loving this man just like that.
  • “Miss Qi, please apologise to Yuhan.” Cen Ziming said unmovingly.
  • Qi Yushi frooze.
  • She scoffed: “Are you being serious right now? Why do I need to apologise to her?”
  • Tao Yuhan, maintaining her innocent front, gently said: “Forget it, Ziming, it doesn’t matter. Let’s go back.”
  • She flashed a scornful sneer at Qi Yushi.
  • “No, it’s not okay! You’re so nice and forgiving that you keep all of your woes to yourself - now that I’ve personally seen her push you today, I need to see her apologise to you.”
  • How ridiculous can he get? Qi Yushi tried to release her wrist from his grip - only for Cen Ziming to tighten it. Her wrist was starting to turn red - but he still would not let go.
  • Just then, a cold voice sounded from behind Qi Yushi. “Let go.”
