Chapter 2 Victoria's Drama

  • Victoria was still afflicted and immersed in her terrible pain. His feelings were on the surface, he was at a terrible crossroads where fear and frustration took center stage in his head. He was with his good friend Joshua, when he saw the doctor leaving the room where he was being held, his sister ran out to approach him:
  • "My sister," was the only thing Victoria could stammer in the midst of her restlessness.
  • “Hannah is getting worse, miss, she will be transferred to intensive care,” says the doctor.
  • “Oh my God, will he be okay?”
  • “Don't know. What I can tell you is that it must be intervened as soon as possible; so I'm afraid he needs money for his operation as soon as possible. Furthermore, with the operation we could stabilize her a little, the next few hours are very critical for her sister.”
  • “I can see her?” Victoria asks.
  • "Just for a moment, come with me," the doctor tells him.
  • They get to the room and Victoria cries uncontrollably and the doctor immediately takes her out to calm down.
  • “Young man, you better come out, I can feel your pain. I'm sorry.”
  • “I want to die doctor; I can't see you like this.”
  • “I understand. Your sister will be under constant observation, but I suggest you get the money for the operation as soon as possible, we are losing quality time for Hannah's recovery.”
  • “Thank you Doctor. Tomorrow I will come, I will get that money no matter what it costs me,” Victoria points out firmly.
  • A cocktail of emotions settles in his mind; he is convinced that he will get the money for the operation no matter what.
  • She arrives in the living room and there was Joshua waiting for her:
  • “What happened?” Joshua asks.
  • “It's the same, there is no improvement. It has to be operated on emergency and the intervention is very expensive.”
  • “My God, and to make matters worse, you quit your job days ago, because of your pig of a boss who wanted to go too far with you.”
  • “I find myself at a dead end Joshua.”
  • “We will find a solution. The Vicky I know does not give up, she is a fighting and determined woman. We will find the means to get out of this, I am going to help you,” they leave the hospital and go home.
  • They arrive home and between the two of them they begin to think about what to do to get out of the horrible scenario that was happening to Victoria.
  • “Vicky I know. I'm going to talk to my great friend and boss Jeremy Clark to help us get you a job. He has very good connections and at the company where we work I heard that Jeremy needs a personal assistant since the previous one just resigned. Of course we have hope there.”
  • “Woah,” he is an important businessman and model, almost like a celebrity, you think he would give the position to me who hasn't even started university.
  • “Come on Victoria, focus. You need money for Hannah's operation, we don't have time to be pessimistic. I'm sure if I talk to him he'll give you the job, you just get the money and quit later if you want. Jeremy pays very well indeed.”
  • “Thank you friend for being there for me. I'm going to rest tomorrow I have to go see my sister very early. Hannah is being moved to intensive care.”
  • “All the more reason you should work with Jeremy. I'll talk to him tomorrow; I know he won't refuse to give you the job.”
  • “I thank you so much Joshua.”
  • “Well, friend, I'm leaving, Jimmy is about to arrive. You also need a boyfriend Vicky and believe in love not all men are malevolent.”
  • “Now I'm not into romance. I'm just concerned with Hannah.”
  • “I know. But if you had a man by your side, a company, everything would be more digestible, friend. Give yourself a chance and believe in love.”
  • “What's so good about falling in love?” Victoria asks.
  • “I'd better go, your desire to close yourself off from love bothers me a little. I hope that over time you change your mind and find a boyfriend who will pamper you, dear.”
  • *****
  • The next morning…
  • After talking to Vicky that night, Joshua arrives very early with his boyfriend Jimmy at Jeremy's apartment.
  • Joshua is very discreet about his sexuality, however, it has not been an impediment to establishing a very close relationship with Jeremy, who is his great friend. Despite being sexist, he respects Joshua's position.
  • Open the door immediately:
  • "Oh, I feel like I'm in a secret scene on the mountain," Jeremy jokes when he sees Joshua in the company of Jimmy.
  • “Someone brought a clown,” Joshua points out.
  • “Good morning Jeremy. “I'm going to get something to eat,” Jimmy agrees.
  • "Your boyfriend is hungry, rascal," Jeremy says jokingly.
  • “What did you mean you fell out of bed Jeremy?” Joshua agrees.
  • “You can say what you want about me, but I don't take work matters as a game, friend. I go to the office to work.”
  • "You're right about that," says Joshua.
  • They are very friends since they met at university, currently Joshua is the creative director of his advertising firm and is also his image consultant along with Jimmy.
  • “What brings you here, that couldn't wait?” Jeremy asks.
  • “My good friend Victoria is in trouble and needs an urgent job and since you were left without a personal assistant, I thought of her for the position.”
  • “Has experience?”
  • “More than that. A great need.”
  • “In that way? My company is not a charity office.”
  • “He needs the job no matter what, he has a family drama and only you pay very well Jeremy. Help us please.”
  • Jeremy frowns and in turn rolls his eyes:
  • “Alright. Tell her to come to my office this afternoon, I'll be waiting for her there.”
  • “Brilliant. I knew you wouldn't let me down. Oh one thing I hope you don't try to overdo it with her, for your information she is a very decent girl, I hope you don't do anything stupid with her because you will pay me for it Jeremy Clark.”
  • “Don't worry, I won't sleep with her.”
  • “You better be,” Joshua says.
  • "You woke up very grumpy, Jimmy, because he didn't behave at all last night," Jeremy says in a joking tone.
  • “What I say, I mean it very seriously Jeremy, if you try anything against Victoria, say goodbye to our friendship, it's clear.”
  • “If you weren't Gay. I would say that you like him or something, calm down, nothing will happen to your protégé.”
  • “You better.”
  • “Don't worry, I'll respect your friend, I swear. Changing the subject, how are things going with Jimmy?”
  • “Good so far, fidelity and respect is our motto,” Joshua smiles sarcastically.
  • “Don't look at me like that Joshua. They are the ones who normally look for me.”
  • “Oh yeah! What about Tina, one of your secretaries, the one you hired because she had a huge butt, she didn't look for you, and also about Sandra, who reportedly became pregnant with you and even has your supposed child, etc. If I start to name them all, it wouldn't be enough for me all day.”
  • “Sandra is not pregnant with me, if she is married, surely her son is her husband's and she wanted to blame it on my dear friend. I'm not that stupid either.”
  • “Oh Jeremy, you don't change. Well, I'll leave you, I'll take Jimmy to the kitchen to leave, I hope he hasn't emptied your refrigerator,” they both burst into laughter.
