Chapter 30
- “We all thought she was a weak human. But when she started strangling Alora, we knew something was wrong. I went to find Ariel, thinking she could convince Tallulah to let her go, but she refused to follow me. When I told her Alora couldn’t manifest her wolf, including all the onlookers present at the time, she told me to yank Tallulah’s hair or stab her. But her hair was strangely moving on its own. How could I hold it? So I took a dagger from someone and stabbed her. But that made her kill Alora. We became scared when she told us we were next, so we rushed back the way we’d come. Ariel didn’t run. I’m sure she was the one who killed Tallulah,” the young man explained.
- Alora’s body was soon brought by a guard. Everyone could see the miserable way she had died. Her head was both injured and deformed, and her neck showed she had indeed been strangled to death. Her clothes were bloodied, and her eyes were opened wide, shock still registered in them.
- “What prompted Tallulah to grab her neck?” the king asked.
