Chapter 41 41
- The voice on the other side of the door was low, a guttural growl of frustration. Lorrenzo's anger crackled through the air, making the hairs on the back of my neck rise. I stood frozen, staring at the door, feeling like I could break under the weight of it all. But then, I remembered how easy it had been to slip away from him. How he'd been left gasping in the wake of my sudden disappearance.
- I didn't open the door.
- “Isabella, let me in,” he demanded again, his voice harder this time, like he was barely holding on. But I could see through it. I could see that this man this broken, controlling creature was unraveling.
