Chapter 3 Memories of the past

  • Tory's POV
  • As Brian drove us to school, a memory from the past started playing in my head. It was the first time that I met Rex, I bet a lot of students don't know that I was the first person he met.
  • It was through the infamous "I bumped into you" method. His locker was directly next to mine and what happened that day was that when we were done taking out stuff from our locker, or maybe it's the opposite, I don't remember, we both slammed our lockers and headed towards each other so fast that we collided and I fell while he who was bigger than me stood there unmoved.
  • I remember being really pissed at whatever idiot bumped into me. Even when I heard Rex's smooth tenor saying "I'm so sorry, here, take my hand" as he tried to help me up, I was still so angry and I wanted to give him a piece of my mind!
  • A piece of my mind was what I gave him when I got up on my own and looked at him and was so overwhelmed by how handsome he looked that I blurted out "Damn, you're hot" . He cracked a smile that left me blushing as I felt a little embarrassed.
  • "And you're drop-dead gorgeous." he had said to me causing me to grin so wide that he laughed.
  • " I'm Rex, by the way, Rex Holland"
  • "Holland as in-son of Kayla Holland? The female protagonist of the movie-The Vipers?" I asked, obviously getting starstruck by the spawn of one of my all-time favorite celebrities. Rex was a chip off the old block, inheriting his mother's striking blue eyes and enchanting smile.
  • "Yes, she's my mother." He had said nodding as he put his hands in his pockets. Gosh, I even remember the clothes he wore. It was a white t-shirt with the words "so fly" written in some fancy calligraphy and denim trousers with a white pair of sneakers. It was that day, I could tell that he loved white.
  • " Wow, it's freaking crazy that I'm meeting one of my favorite celebrity's son. Honestly"
  • "I'm sure it is" he had said to me,as his eyes and mine locked for a short while and we both looked away.
  • "Uh, I'm Tory Williams by the way," I said, extending my hands for a handshake but he held them and kissed them before she rubbed it softly in a way that sent shivers down my spine and though it took a great deal of commitment, I didn't blush.
  • "It's nice meeting you" he eventually said as he slowly released my hands from his grasp.
  • " Same here," Isabella Costa had said interrupting.
  • Isabella was my best friend, my family and hers moved to New York, two years ago and we both got enrolled in Oakwood high. I was so elated that we didn't get separated due to our parents need to move from Florida but little did I know that our friendship was meant to crash very soon .
  • It was there and then that I got a call from my mom, informing me of dad's death. Like I said before, I had (and I still have) a bad temperament. I lost my mind and when Isabella tried to ask me what was wrong, I lashed out at her and told her to stay away from me.
  • I barely spoke to anyone, not even my family members during that time and I eventually ended up keeping it up for about two months straight that my mom had to take me to a therapist.
  • Thankfully, I started talking to my family members but I still didn't warm up to the students at school. The only person that I became friends with was Rachel, though she's not a loner like me, she didn't snub me the way the rest kids at school did.
  • When I was finally ready to make more friends other than Rachel, no one wanted to be friends with me. They were all avoiding me for some strange reason but Rachel still stuck by me and hung out with me.
  • As for Rex and Isabella, they never spoke to me again and it was weird because I expected Isabella to have known me by then that I was just going through a hard time but instead, she turned Rex against me and made him her loyal "best bud".
  • I, on the other hand, decided not to interfere with their friendship since they had gotten so close and also very popular. That's when Nate came into the picture and they became a trio that the whole school respects and admires.
  • All that was two years ago, I' m now in junior year so there's still time for me to bounce back and get my dream guy.
  • "We're here!" Brian said as he parked at the parking lot and turned off the car's ignition.
