Chapter 4 The Dance Of Fear
- Chapter 4: The Dance of fear
- Rose’s PoV
- “Come, I’ll take you to his office.” She said with a soft smile as she led me through the large halls.
- I responded with a nod only as I walked behind her.
- “He stays at the north wing.” She explained when it seemed like we had been walking for hours.
- I still could not comprehend how big the house was.
- The sound of Gulia’s heels clicking softly on the polished marble floor was the only sound that could be heard. The grand corridor stretched before me like a majestic pathway As I walked, the soft glow of the crystal chandelier above casts a warm, golden light on my face.
- To my left, tall windows framed by velvet drapes but was covered with great curtains hindering sunlight to dance across the floor. The walls, painted a soothing cream or white, i couldn't quite tell for sure, yet it provided a subtle backdrop for the stunning artwork that lined the corridor.
- Masterpieces by famous artists seemed to whisper secrets, their frames glinting in the soft light. Those paintings seemed like they held so many meanings but it wasn’t enough for me to just pass through them. I made a mental note to study them again, if I got the chance to.
- Ahead, the passage curved gently. Elegant candelabras, adorned with delicate flowers, stand sentinel on slender console tables. The fragrance of fresh roses and lilies wafts through the air, mingling with the subtle scent of old books and leather.
- I noticed two things, firstly those flowers were attended to daily and there was a library in one of these rooms. I secretly hoped I would be let inside.
- The passage narrowed slightly, and I find myself before a beautiful wooden door, adorned with intricate carvings. “Here we are.” She said softly and flashed me a smile.
- She placed a soft knock on the door and after a minute we heard the Mafia king’s deep baritone voice call out. “Come in.” He said. I jumped slightly in fear and Gulia noticed my reaction and flashed me an assuring smile.
- “Go in.” She said as she pushed the door open and pushed me inside.
- I felt like lab rat under a microscope. I stood still with my hands hugging myself and my eyes to the ground.
- The silence and tension in the room was alarming. I couldn’t see what he was doing or even hear anything so I lifted my eyes to look around.
- I realized I was in his office. The whole place was covered in white and grey as expected. There was a shelf filled with books waiting to be explored, there was a water dispenser in the corner and a table in the center of the office.
- He was seated behind the table filled with so many files and books. I assumed he was probably working.
- I finally gathered the courage to meet his eyes and I almost lost consciousness with the way I was holding my breath.
- He was leaning forward on the table and his hands also rested on the table. His green remain fixed on me, piercing through my skin.
- I shifted uncomfortably on my feet.
- He stood up slowly and walked around the desk, approaching me.
- I had begged the walls to close in on me so I wouldn’t be in this position now, under his scrutinizing gaze.
- “What’s your name?”. He asked peering down at me. I felt so small being close to him.
- I took a step backwards, hugging myself.
- I couldn’t even respond to his question, I just wanted to be out of here. Everything about him scared me, tales of his handi work flashed and replayed in my head. This man was dangerous and I was less than five inches away from him. Anything was possible.
- “Did you not hear me?.” He barked out loudly causing me to flinch.
- “M.. my n.. name is..” I opened my mouth immediately to speak in fear but I was caught off when the air was knocked out of me.
- I was slammed into the wall, with his large hands wrapped around my throat. My feet was off the ground and my wide eyes which felt like there were about to pop out were the same level with his green eyes.
- “When I talk to you, I expect you to answer immediately.” He growled at me. “You don’t expect me to ask you twice!!!.” He barked out in my face.
- “Do you understand?!!!.” He said with a sneer as he applied more pressure to my neck.
- I shook my head rapidly as I struggled to get free from him, but it was useless because he was so strong and I knew in my heart that he wasn’t even using any effort to hold me like that.
- “Use your words.” He said in a low menacing tone with the most beautiful smirk I had ever seen on his face.
- “Y… y… yes.” I croaked out.
- My eyes were already rolling to the back of my head and I was slowly drifting into unconsciousness when his grip loosened on my neck and I was flung to the wall.
- My back hit the hard wall and I fell to the ground with a hard thud. I winced and bit my lip to stop myself from screaming. If there was anything I learnt from my uncle was that screaming only fueled the person’s desire to cause more pain.
- I could feel the blood dripping down from my head and lips and my vision was becoming blurry but I willed myself to remain focused and conscious.
- “Get up.” He barked out and I didn’t need to hear it twice before I held the wall for balance and picked myself up.
- “Good. I see you’re learning quickly.” He said with a proud smile. “Now tell me, what’s your name?.” He asked with raised brows.
- “Rose.” I said in almost a whisper as I pinned my eyes to the cold ground.
- “Rose.” He said as if testing my name in his mouth.
- The entire office was quiet now as he just stared at me. I wonder why he always did that, it’s like he knew how intimidating his stare was so he always did it with people.
- I shifted uncontrollably on my feet as I tried to ease my self of the tension.
- He took a step towards me and I tried to move but I was already close to the wall. i attempted to move to another part of the office but before I could, it was as if he could read my thoughts, I was already caged between him and the wall.
- I squeezed my eyes shut in fear of what might come next, I wondered what I had done now. I waited for the pain but nothing came.
- “Are you afraid of me?”. He said softly. I snapped my eyes open, in surprise and shock that he could ever speak to me like that.
- I was too lost in my thoughts that I almost forget what he told me earlier. I was quickly reminded of his word when I saw his face morphing into a deep frown of disapproval.
- “I.. I’m not. I.. mean I.. I am. A.. little bit.” I did not know which of them he wanted to hear. I couldn’t tell if he wanted me to be afield of him judging from the look in his eyes when he asked but at the same time the way he spoke earlier proved that his intention was to instill fear in me.
- “Mmm.” He responded. “I don’t want to hurt you Rose.” He said softly again as he buried his head in my neck.
- I stood still, afraid to move or do anything to upset him.
- He inhaled my neck and planted soft kisses., all the whole humming in satisfaction. “I’m so glad I finally have you Rose.” He said with his mouth buried in my neck.
- I couldn’t understand what he had just revealed. We were both meeting each other for the first time so why did he sound like he had known me and desired me for the longest.
- I was about to ask what he meant by that when his eyes met mine again and instantly like I was hypnotized, I stayed quiet.
- “Giovanni did this to you?.” He asked holding my face in his cold large hands.
- “Y..yes.” I responded quietly. I was tempted to say and you too but I knew better.
- “I’ll make him pay for this!.” He said with gritted teeth.
- Too say I was perplexed would be an understatement. Did he not just cause me pain few minutes ago?.
- Suddenly I felt his cold lips on my face, kissing me all over so sensually. I became rigid again, I didn’t understand what he was doing to my body.
- I was beginning to feel different and I couldn’t understand why.
- He pulled away from me and I could see some of my blood on his lips. I watched him wide eyed as he licked his lips, swallowing my blood.
- “As long as you stay with me and obey me at all times, I’ll make you very happy.” He said as he pulled away from me
- I only shook my head in approval, I had to keep my mouth shut if I wanted to survive. It wasn’t that hard right?, I guess it was better than my uncle. With my uncle even if I stayed quiet I would get a beating but here all I needed to do was to stay quiet and obey him and everything my would be fine.
- But I knew it wasn’t going to be easy as I made it seem. I couldn’t live my life like this forever, under abusive men. I guess I just had to play along with him until I get a chance to run far away from him and everyone else.
- “Now go to your room and rest.” He said with a soft smile.
- This man was just exceptional. He looked so cold and heartless but when he smiled he looked completely different, so beautiful and my heart almost stopped as I saw how gorgeous he was.
- He raised his brows again and gestured to the door with a smirk, causing my to snap out of my dream world.
- I responded with a nod and made my way to the door carefully.
- “Rose?.” He called out when I had gotten to the door and my heart skipped.
- “Don’t ever think of leaving me, you can’t and if you try, I’ll find you no matter where you are and bring you back to me.” He said as he walked towards me.
- He stood behind me now and I could feel his hot breath on my neck. “Because you belong to me.” He said in a low tone as he planted a kiss on my neck.
- He pulled the door open for me and I walked out of his office with the thought of what he said replaying in my head.
- I belong to him…
