Chapter 2 Stuck With The Devil
- Chapter 2: Stuck with the devil
- Rose’s pov
- His eyes finally landed on me and instantly my breath hitched. It felt like the air was smacked out of my system.
- His eyes remained on me for while and he started at me like he was shocked and surprised to see me. It seemed he was noticing me for the first time since he stepped in to this house. He ran his eyes over me from top to bottom with a blank and cold expression on his face. I couldn’t tell what he was thinking but he made me very uneasy.
- I turned to look away when I could no longer handle his intense stare and I almost jumped when I heard his deep baritone voice. “Who is she?”.
- My uncle turned to me and sniffed, wiping his eyes as if to see who the strange man was talking about, like he too was surprised to see me here. “What the fuck are you still doing here?.” He snapped at me with his face twisted in an eerily form. “Go upstairs now!.” He yelled causing me to flinch.
- “O..okay.” I stuttered moving my feet immediately.
- “Wait!”. The strange man’s spoke authoritatively, halting my steps immediately. There was just something about this man, his aura, his confidence that just made anyone listen to him immediately. I wasn’t to blame. “I asked you a question Giovanni?”. He said raising a brow at my uncle.
- He eyed me, flashing me an ugly scowl. “She’s my niece.” He spat out bitterly with gritted teeth, like the word ‘niece’, that showed that we were related repulsed him.
- The big man narrowed his eyes at me and looked me over again, as if checking for the resemblance but I doubt he could see any, judging from my battered and bleeding face. I suddenly felt the need to hide my ugly face away from him.
- “I see.” He tuted and turned to my uncle again, his expression shifting slightly but no different. “So where were we Giovanni?.” He sighed. “Ahh my money.” He flashed a stern look at him.
- “I’m sorry but I don’t have your money now. Give me some time please.” My uncle responded.
- “Well, like I said, you know I didn’t come all the way for this. So say your goodbyes now to your niece.” He flashed a smirk at him and he planted the barrel of his gun to my uncle’s head.
- Giovanni shivered in fear and I just watched with mixed feelings, I didn’t know whether to also beg the big man to let my uncle off or to take the gun from him and end Giovanni’s life myself.
- The latter was crazy, and I did not think I could do that, so I opted for the former. “Sir please don’t kill my uncle.” I fell to my knees before the big man and begged with my hands folded.
- The big man just stared at me with his brows knitted in confusion, without batting an eye lid and turned to my uncle again like I was speaking a strange language.
- “Time up Giovanni.” He said cocking his gun.
- “Wait!!.” My uncle yelled. “You can take her instead!.” He added breathing heavily and looking around wide eyed.
- “Take who?!.” I yelled staring at him in confusion.
- “Shut up, you bitch!.” He snapped eyeing me bitterly before turning back to the big man. “You can take her instead.” He said to the man in a softer tone.
- “And why would I do that?.” The big man asked with raised brows and a glint of amusement in his eyes but his gun reined unwavering from my uncle’s head.
- “Wo.. word on the street is that your empire is being threatened because you’re unmarried and without an heir.” My uncle said, mentioning each word with fear dripping off his tongue.
- The big man’s face twisted into a dangerous scowl and boy did he look scary, I almost peed myself. “Word on the street?”. The man asked with raised brows.
- “Just rumors boss, I’m so sorry.” Giovanni trembled sensing the man’s increased anger.
- “You owe me a shut ton of money Giovanni, what makes you think I would leave all that money and take your niece instead?.” The big man said circling my uncle in very calculated steps.
- I don’t know why but the way he spoke so lowly about me hurt my feelings, like I wasn’t worth anything.
- “Because your empire is worth more than that sum boss.” My uncle added in a stronger tone now. It seemed that the big man was contemplating on taking his offer and he knew it.
- I just knelt down while they talked casually about selling me.
- “I see.” The big man said rubbing his chin softly. He looked to be deep in thought for a minute before he continued. “You know the kind of man I am and you’re willing to give your niece to me instead of paying me?.” The man asked twisting his head at my uncle.
- What kind of man was he?, was he dangerous ?, who was I kidding. He legit had a gun pressed to my uncle’s head and I was sure he could he pull the trigger at any point. Did that look like the attributes of a dangerous man?.
- “I don’t care , you can take her, right now if you please.” Giovanni rushed out, rushing to my side and carried me up roughly.
- “So I see now that you just want to get rid of her.” The man said eyeing him. “You want to give me something of no value.” He said with his hands in his pocket.
- Wow, something of no value…, was me.
- “No, not at all boss.” My uncle said. “Look she’s very pretty and very obedient too.”
- I could not believe my ears. I stood there while my uncle tried to convince this man to buy me or take me in exchange for his debts. I couldn’t even protest even if I wanted to, the look my uncle was giving assured me that I would get another round of beating if I tried anything.
- The big man massaged the barrel of his gun on his chin as he stared at me, probably contemplating if I was worth the price. He moved slowly towards me and my uncle moved away instantly, leaving me in the spot.
- My heart raced uncontrollably, I could tell my temperature rising and it felt like my eyes would pop out anytime soon. As he got near, the whiff of his scent did not escape my nose. He had this woody masculine scent, that smelled so heavenly. He must be very wealthy to smell that good.
- He stood in front of me, staring at my face. “You owe me 40,000$ Giovanni and instead you give me your niece.” He said without looking away from me.
- “Please, consider it boss.” My uncle said trembling again. I couldn’t understand if he was about to take the offer or he wanted to kill my uncle because of his blank expression. It was very scary that we were unable to tell what he was thinking of even try to predict his next action.
- “Alright.” He sighed after a while of silence. “Come with me.” He said to me and walked out of the house.
- My heart dropped.
- “Go with him!.” My uncle yelled with gritted teeth as I stood unmoving.
- “No!.” I yelled with tears streaming down my eyes. “You can’t just sell me off like that or use to me to pay off your debts!.” I yelled at him.
- Before I could register what was going on, I felt a stinging pain on my face, in addition to my already bruised face.
- Giovanni had hit me.
- “You better watch your mouth. That is no ordinary man. You think he would be as merciful as I am?”. He snarled.
- I wondered if there was any person as horrible as my uncle. If then, he was the devil himself. “I don’t even know him and you want me to just marry him and give him an heir?”. I scoffed.
- “He is Silvio Rossi.” My uncle said with a sinister chuckle.
- The name rang in my head. Silvio Rossi… Silvio Rossi. “The head of the most dangerous Mafia in Italy?”. I asked trying to confirm my suspicions.
- “Yes.” My uncle said falling into a fit of laughter, like this was the most amusing thing he had heard. “Now go, don’t keep him waiting and behave.” He said with a stern look.
- Before I could protest, the bulky men who come with the strange man moved to my corner and held grabbed my hands. “Let’s go, boss is waiting.” They said in their thick voices as they say pulled me out the house.
- I screamed, begged and kicked but it t was nothing compared to their strong grip on me. I was dragged and thrown in the back seat with the strange man.
- Into the back seat with the Silvio Rossi, the most dangerous man in the country, even beyond. I sat still immediately, too scared to make any noise or move.
- I have heard so many tales about him. People call him the devil, they preach about the horrible things he was capable of, and here I was, being sold to him, to the devil for the rest of my miserable life.
- The two bulky men went the front seat and started the journey away from my home. This was house I grew up in with my parents that held so manny beautiful memories and at the same time, it held the most dreadful memories.
- As I watched it fade away into the distance, I realized that I could never have a happy ending. I had always wished for the day that I would be free from Giovanni but here I was stuck with the devil.
