Chapter 3 The Prisoner
- Chapter 3: The Prisoner
- Rose’s PoV
- The journey to wherever they were taking me was pretty intense. It was probably to his house though where I would live as his wife.
- I screamed internally at my terrible luck in live. However I was feeling now added to the physical pain I was in, I couldn’t show it, not when such a man was seating close to me. I was afraid of what he might do me.
- Although he had not glanced at me for once since we started this journey. He only typed away in his laptop, probably work and took numerous phone calls.
- “We’re here boss.” One of the bulky men said from the front seat in his thick voice as we pulled into a large compound.
- The car came to stop and my door was pulled open. As I got dragged out of the car, my eyes widened and stared at the mansion with my mouth agape. Large was an understatement.
- The view before me was enchanting and amazing . The yard was covered in lush, moss colored lawn, meandering amidst abundant forest foliage. This beautiful scene looked like it was carved straight out of a magazine.
- There were numerous expensive and clean cars parked around. The type of cars that would make your mouth water when you see them.
- "Wow, you people actually live here?.” I mumbled as i stared in awe.
- Stone ledges and steps lead to seemingly endless woodland paths, which in turn, lead to the lake.
- Maybe because I’m coming from an average family but who has a lake in their home!!!!
- One of the bulky men chuckled at my mystified expression before pulling me forward. “Move”. He said in a softer tone with a hint of amusement in his tone.
- I continued walking, following their lead until we reached the double doors of the house. From there we were greeted with a fresh scent of cinnamon and an enthralling two story foyer with a sweeping circular staircase.
- It looked so enormous, it bet it could swallow me whole. Oh and the way this place looked, so neat, clean, and close to perfection, made me afraid to touch
- anything. I don't want to ruin it.
- Not that I could actually touch anything, judging from my the way my hands were gripped tightly.
- Abruptly, the double doors were pulled open revealing a beautiful petite woman who looked to be in her late fifties. She was wearing a blue pencil skirt, that hugged her small curves and a white blouse that was tucked neatly. Her black hair was styled neatly to the back and pinned up, her round face was covered in light make up and plump lips in sharp red lipstick.
- “Back so soon Silvio.” She said flashing a smile at the Mafia boss. I assumed she was really close to him to address him his name but I couldn’t tell what relationship they had. She swept her eyes from him and landed on me. “And you have a guest.” She said with raised brows.
- “Take her to where she’ll be staying.” He said in his thick authoritative voice as he took long strides into the mansion but before he was gone completely, he paused and turned to me. He stared at me with a cold expression that caused me to hold my breath. “And get her cleaned up.” He said before walking further into the house.
- The woman flashed a smaller at the men holding me. “I’ll take it from here.”
- They released me instantly with a kid and walked away leaving me with the petite woman. “Come darling.” She said in a sweet and soft tone. “I’ll show you to your room.” She said guiding me in to the house.
- As I stepped inside, i was immediately struck by the breathtaking beauty of this stunning home. The grand hall unfolded before me, its soaring ceiling and crystal chandelier shimmering like diamonds in the soft light. I felt as though I'd entered a fairy tale, one where beauty and magic dwelled.
- Soft, creamy marble floors gleamed beneath my feet. They looked so shiny and so clean, I was afraid I would stain them. My eyes wandered to the elegant console table, its polished surface reflecting the vibrant hues of the artwork above. A stunning vase, its curves as delicate as a rose petal, sat poised on the table, as if waiting for the perfect bouquet.
- As we moved forward, we entered into the living room, and my eyes widened in awe.
- It had plush sofas and armchairs that looked so inviting for me to sink in and stay awhile. Everything was white and beige, it was all screaming expensive and clean.
- Floor-to-ceiling windows let in floods of natural light, illuminating the elegant lines of the furniture.
- There was a big screen television planted on the walls but everything seemed like it had never touched. The house seemed empty as I noticed that there were barely any pictures in the house. Perhaps the Mafia king lived alone with this woman.
- There was another door, leading somewhere else, my best guess would be the kitchen but I was guided to the staircase before I had the opportunity to take a peak.
- As we climbed up the stairs, I was delighted at the softly carpeted steps that curved upward. It had delicate ironwork railings which aded a touch of whimsy and sophistication.
- A beautiful chandelier hung above the landing, casting shimmering shadows. Everything looked so grand and amazing. It felt like I was dreaming.
- “You’ll be staying in the south wing.” She said to me with a warm smile as we walked past numerous rooms. I only responded with a nod as I was too caught up with admiring the castle of a house.
- “Here we are.” She said with a sigh as she pushed a door open and guided me inside.
- As soon as I laid eyes on this room, I started thinking that maybe this wasn’t so bad. I could live the life I’ve always wanted here. If only that was true…
- The room was white and beige as every other thing in the house. It had a Queen sized bed, a large table and a full length mirror in the corner. This space in this room could accommodate seven people comfortably. I wasn’t exaggerating.
- “So the door to your left is the bathroom, you can have everything you need there and the other door is your closet.” She said gesturing to the doors. “So freshen up and get changed, I’ll be with you shortly.”
- “Thank you.” I said quietly with my head bent.
- “Forgive my manners dear, my name is Guilia and I take care of things around here, if you need anything be sure to let me know.” She said with a smile.
- “Thank you.” I responded quietly with a nod.
- “What’s your name dear?”. She said with a chuckle.
- “Rose, my name is Rose.” I said with a sigh.
- “Welcome Rose.” She smiled sweetly. “I’ll leave you to get settled.” She smiled again and walked out of the room.
- As soon as I was alone in the big bedroom, the realization that my life had completely changed hit me like a brick. If it was for better, I wasn’t sure.
- I walked into the closet to pick something else to change into and I was in awe. The closet was so big it could pass for my room. There were so many clothes there and I wondered if it had been here all along just waiting for my arrival, but I just shrugged it off.
- You never know what money can do, he must have probably ordered them all while we were on our way here.
- I browsed through the closet and opted for some loose joggers and a hoodie. It was a bit hot this season but I’d count sad than let anyone see my scars.
- I carried the clothes and pushed the other open that lead to the bathroom. Everything in this house was just exquisite and luxurious.
- The bathroom shimmered like oases, marble countertops and sleek fixtures exuding luxury. Spacious showers with rainfall shower heads and heated floors enveloped me in warmth, while plush towels and scented candles completed the spa-like ambiance.
- I stripped down, until I was left wearing nothing, like how I came into this world.
- I moved to turn on the shower and I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. I should ignored it and moved on to take a shower but I stood there, staring at my reflection in the mirror.
- My once healthy, long and black hair now looked dull and greedy. It was like a bird nest. My brown eyes dull and tanned skin covered in bruises and scars.
- I grimaced, wincing in pain as I lifted hands ot touch my face. I could barely recognize whose reflection l was seeing in the mirror.
- I sighed and turned the shower on, allowing the cold water to ease my pain a little. It stung for a while but after I relaxed, the water was soothing.
- I washed my hair and cleaned my body throughly, removing all the dry blood from skin. In no time I was done and all dressed up.
- As I got out of the shower, I tiptoed to the door and tried to pull it open but it was locked. I wasn’t surprised, I wasn’t panicking, maybe I was already used to these type of things.
- I was a prisoner before and still a prisoner now.
- The door was pulled open abruptly and Miss Guilia peeped in. “I guess you’re all cleaned up.” She said running her eyes over my body.
- “Yes.” I said sheepishly.
- “Good.” She said opening the door widely. “Now come, Luca wants to see you.”
- I felt like the air was punched out of my lungs as she said. What could he possibly want with me now?.
